Assistant Professor/ Staff Nurse Jobs opportunity in Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health (LGBRIMH) under special recruitment drive for Persons with Disabilities (PWD) category.
Assistant Professor, Psychiatry /1 Post
Pay Scale: Rs.15,600-39,100
Age: 50 years
Staff Nurse /2 Posts
Pay Scale: Rs.9,300-34,800
Age: 35 years
(i) Essential Qualification for Assistant Professor Psychiatry: A recognized medical qualification included in the First or Second Schedule or Part-II of the Third Schedule (other than licentiate qualifications) to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. Holders of educational qualifications included in Part-II of the Third Schedule should also fulfill the conditions stipulated in sub-section (3) of section (13) of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. (ii) Post-graduate degree in the concerned specialty mentioned in Schedule-VI or equivalent. Recognized DNB qualification awarded by National Board of Examination.
Essential Experience for Assistant Professor Psychiatry: (i) At least 03 years teaching experience in the concerned specialty as Lecturer /Tutor /Registrar/ Demonstrator/Sr. Resident in a recognized institution/college after the requisite Post-graduate degree qualification.
Note: Teaching experience in any other post like the post of general Duty Medical Officer/Medical Officer shall not be considered for eligibility purpose for recruitment to teaching posts.
(ii) Essential Qualification for Staff Nurse: (i) HSSLC Passed (ii) Registered Nurse (GNM/B.Sc. Nurse) (iii) Registration with INC or State Nursing Council is a must.

The Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health (LGBRIMH) was initially set up as Tezpur Lunatic Asylum under the British Government in April, 1876. In 1922 the hospital was rechristened as Tezpur Mental Hospital. With the progress in the field of psychiatry across the globe, steps were also taken to develop this hospital with modern facilities. Major construction activities were started in 1926. A private firm, “Zardine Menezes Co.,” was hired from Calcutta for undertaking the upgradation works. By the end of 1932 the hospital accommodation rose up to 700 beds.
