Assistant Professors Geo-Informatics job recruitment in Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS)
Centre for Geo-Informatics (GIS): Assistant Professor /1 Post
Centre for Disaster Management: Assistant Professor /1 Post
Qualification and Experience: Good academic record with at least 55% of the marks or an equivalent grade of 'B' in the 7 point scale with letter grades O,A,B,C,D,E and F at the Master’s Degree (or equivalent) level from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an acredited foreign university. A relaxation of 5% will be provided from 55% to 50% of the marks at the Master’s level for the SC/ST/Differentially-abled category candidates, and to the Ph. D. Degree holders who have passed their Master’s Degree prior to 19th September 1991. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET. Candidates, who are, or have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph. D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor in Universities/ Colleges/Institutions.
For Centre for GIS: Experience of at least two years in teaching courses in Disaster Management programmes and those possessing relevant publications would be preferred. The incumbent would require to be aware of global trends in GIS and Remote sensing and Disaster Management. Candidates from inter-disciplinary areas of Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Management Planning, Earth sciences, natural rsources management etc. are encouraged to apply. Proven capacities to write high quality research proposals to secure national and international funding will be an assest. The incumbent should posses leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, research and academic skills and ability for team work.
Desirable: Preference will be given to candidates with 65% and above at Master's level or those with Ph. D. and research/ teaching experience.
