Assistant Video Technician
Job Description
- Applicants must have basic knowledge of computers.
- Must support with cabling & equipment maintenance.
- Must assist with equipment loading/unloading.

Key Responsibilities:

Setup and Preparation:
-
Assist in the installation and configuration of video equipment such as cameras, switchers, monitors, projectors, and recording devices.

Run cables and connect video feeds to ensure proper signal flow and equipment functionality.

Test and calibrate video equipment prior to productions to verify resolution, color accuracy, and signal integrity.
-
Help position and focus cameras and other visual equipment as per technical requirements.

Operation and Support:
-
Aid the Video Technician in operating video switchers, playback systems, and recording devices during live or recorded productions.
-
Monitor video signals throughout events to detect and address any technical problems promptly.
-
Assist in video playback, including queuing and triggering clips or graphics as directed.

Support multi-camera setups by coordinating feeds and managing equipment.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
-
Conduct routine checks and preventive maintenance on video gear to ensure reliability.
-
Identify and help resolve issues such as signal loss, frame drops, sync problems, or equipment malfunctions.
-
Maintain an inventory of video equipment and accessories, reporting any damages or missing items.
-
Assist with updating firmware and software on digital video equipment.

Collaboration and Communication:
-
Work closely with Video Technicians, Directors, Camera Operators, and production staff to meet visual production goals.
-
Communicate clearly and effectively to coordinate cues, changes, and technical adjustments during productions.

Assist in training junior staff or volunteers on basic video equipment handling and safety procedures.
-
Follow instructions carefully and adapt to dynamic production environments.

Health and Safety Compliance:
-
Follow safety protocols regarding electrical equipment, rigging, and working at heights when handling video installations.
-
Ensure cables and equipment are secured to prevent trip hazards or damage.
-
Participate in risk assessments and promote safe work practices on site.
