.Position Summary

The role of this position is to develop and deliver on Bain’s proprietary products and solutions, within the Consumer Products/Retail industries, to our clients while working within a team of analysts, other associates and leads. The CP/R teams collaborate with Bain’s CP/R industry leadership, client facing Bain case teams, and with end clients on a case to case basis on the development and deployment of industry specific analytical solutions. The aim is to answer strategic questions of Bain’s CP/R clients relating to brand strategy (assortment, pricing, distribution), revenue management (pricing, promotions, profit pools, trade terms), negotiation strategy with retailers, COGS optimization, etc.

Associates play a team member role on BCN cases, driving the analysis on more complicated workstreams within a project. Associates own work planning, problem solving and delivery of analysis/insights on their assigned work streams and collaborate with other team members / project lead to deliver a high quality consolidated answer on the overall project. Associates are expected to have strong experience with data analytics and research, coach / guide analysts on the team on task execution, communicate/present findings in internal team meetings and external client calls. Over the tenure as an associate and with experience, associates will be expected to manage between 1-3 analysts and independently lead simple to medium complexity cases with guidance from a Manager.

Core Responsibilities And Duties

• Owns a complex workstream of the overall case scope, providing strong leverage to the Project Lead
• Understands client needs/context and demonstrates ability to resolve complex issues on critical work streams, working closely with the Project Lead
• Ensures timely, high quality delivery of output to clients through effective execution, and co-management of the work streams of a small set of analysts (1-2)
• Supports the BCN case leads in problem solving, hypothesis generation, research and insight generation and quality control
• Ensures zero-defect across own work streams as well as those being co-managed
• Proficient at identifying and using the relevant analytical tools for projects (alteryx/tableau/etc.) & solutions (go-to-market strategy, revenue management, brand strategy, etc.) delivered and relevant to the CP industry
• Proficient on the key data sources and metrics for CP industry, experience in one or more key sub-sectors within CP covering consumer preferences, trends, market and competitor landscape
• Communicates data, knowledge & clearly explain insights & implications for the analysts and the case lead
  

Qualification

• Graduate from tier-1 college with 3-5 years of experience in a global professional services firm environment with exposure to management consulting, business analytics, or CP/R industry domains
• Preferably an MBA from tier-1 business school
• Strong academic credentials, analytical ability and research skills
• Excellent communication skills, can drive discussions/presentations with BCN leadership and client maps succinctly to favorable outcomes
• Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data to identify patterns, opportunities and gaps, and integrate across disparate industry data resources (e.g., Nielsen/IRI, Mintel, Kantar, shopper card data, client financials etc.)
• Understanding of modern analytical tools and techniques, including Alteryx, Tableau (critical), R, SPSS, Power BI, Python is preferred
• Experience working in or for CP&R clients is preferred
• Experience in applying advanced analytics to a range of business situations & a proven ability to synthesize complex data to generate simple & clear insights
