Job Purpose
Acquire, develop and project manage high quality topical and special issues and related bulk revenue according to targets; Develop and maintain relations with editors, (potential) guest editors and authors; Provide process guidance and timely status information to all stakeholders for all special issues and review articles in the assigned portfolio from idea to production stages; Deliver positive contribution to overall team performance and process improvements

Required Education And Experience
Minimum University degree, preferably M.Sc. level
At least 2 years relevant experience, preferably in the publishing industry

Key Result Areas
Develop and project manage high quality topical and special issues according to targets;
- Create actionable acquisition, publication and bulk sales plans in line with targets under supervision of publisher and team leader
- Suggest sensible topics for special issues by surveying editorial board members, researching Scopus, researching competing journals, researching community and society websites, researching conference programs, participating in editorial board meetings and promoting the special issue program, also use Scival, Mendeley, Altmetrics for arriving at suitable topics and potential Guest Editors.
- Execute on publication plans
- Monitor special content quality by tracking citations and downloads in comparison with regular content in publishing portfolio
- Feedback quality reports to publisher, editors and guest editors as indicators of success and input for further portfolio strategy planning
- Participate in editorial board meetings from time to time
- Take full ownership and manage the publication process for special issues by tracking progress, guiding and chasing guest editors and authors, anticipating potential barriers and solving issues
- Ensure all special issues are published in time and in accordance to publication schedules and targets
- Actively manage special issue publication budget towards year end
- Maintain excellent communications with journal editors, guest editors and authors
- Establish productive collaboration with publishers
- Act as single-point of contact for special content on all non-
- production related matters for all stakeholders, internally and
- externally
- Liaise with guest editors and review authors to confirm topic coverage, formats, and timelines, once the special issue / review proposal is accepted by publisher and editors
- Generate special issue contracts and get these signed and stored
- Send out thank you notes to guest editors and authors upon project completion
- Set up EES system for special content
- Maintain the pipeline of special issues and invited review articles by timely and accurately recording progress in SID/JCI
- Liaise with journal managers and local supplier managers for production and dispatch matters
- Oversee invoicing of bulk deals
- Actively contribute to and participate in special content development initiatives such as further workflow improvement, participating in internal workshops, Non Solus updates, team meetings, etc.
- Pro-actively flag areas for improvement in relation to special content acquisition and publication
