Job Description
Job Summary:
The AutoCAD Designer is responsible for creating technical drawings and plans using AutoCAD and related design software to support engineering, architecture, manufacturing, or construction projects. This role requires a high level of precision, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex information from engineers, architects, or project managers.
The ideal candidate should have strong drafting skills, a solid understanding of design standards and technical drawing practices, and the ability to translate concepts into clear and accurate digital drawings. The AutoCAD Designer will work closely with engineers and other stakeholders to ensure that all drawings meet project specifications, industry standards, and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Drawing and Drafting

Use AutoCAD and other CAD software to produce 2D and/or 3D technical drawings for components, assemblies, floor plans, piping layouts, structural frameworks, or mechanical systems based on project requirements.

Create accurate and detailed drawings from rough sketches, notes, or verbal instructions provided by engineers or project leads.

Modify existing CAD drawings based on new data, engineering changes, or redline markups.
2. Design Interpretation and Collaboration

Interpret and understand technical specifications, blueprints, design briefs, and project documentation.

Collaborate with engineers, architects, and project managers to understand design intent, required standards, and specifications.

Provide feedback and suggestions during the design process to improve quality, efficiency, or feasibility.
3. Drawing Review and Quality Control

Conduct regular reviews of drawings to check for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to drafting and project standards.

Ensure drawings comply with relevant codes, regulations, and company standards.

Submit drawings for review and approval, and incorporate revisions as needed.
4. File Management and Documentation

Maintain organized drawing files, templates, and backups in accordance with company document control protocols.

Prepare and deliver final drawing packages including title blocks, revisions history, notes, and legends.

Update project documentation and drawing logs regularly to reflect the most current revisions.
5. Support to Project Execution

Provide technical support during project execution or fabrication by clarifying design details.

Participate in site visits or inspections, when required, to verify dimensions and gather field data for as-built drawings.

Assist in the preparation of bills of materials (BOMs), cut lists, and parts lists if applicable.

Proficiency in AutoCAD: Strong command of CAD software for producing high-quality, accurate technical drawings.
