Job Overview
An Aviation Apprentice is responsible for supporting aviation operations, maintenance, and technical activities while gaining hands-on experience under the supervision of senior engineers, technicians, or operational staff. This apprenticeship program is designed to train and develop future aviation professionals by providing practical exposure to aircraft maintenance, ground operations, and aviation technology.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Training & Learning
-
Assist senior engineers and technicians in aircraft maintenance, inspection, and repair activities.

Learn and apply aviation safety protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Gain hands-on experience in aircraft systems, avionics, hydraulics, engines, and fuselage inspections.

Attend workshops and training sessions to understand industry best practices and emerging technologies.
2. Aircraft Maintenance Support

Support routine aircraft checks, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting tasks.

Help in inspecting aircraft components, engines, landing gear, and electrical systems.

Assist in the replacement or repair of aircraft parts under supervision.

Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities and report discrepancies to supervisors.
3. Ground Operations Assistance

Support ground handling operations including aircraft fueling, towing, and pre-flight checks.

Assist in the loading and unloading of cargo or baggage.

Help in coordinating with airport operations staff, flight crews, and ground teams for smooth aircraft turnaround.

Learn and apply airport safety regulations, security protocols, and emergency procedures.
4. Documentation & Reporting

Maintain detailed logs of maintenance work, inspections, and repairs.

Assist in preparing reports for regulatory compliance and safety audits.

Document technical observations and share them with senior engineers or management.

Ensure all records are updated in accordance with aviation industry standards.
5. Tools & Equipment Handling

Assist in handling and organizing aviation tools, equipment, and spare parts.

Learn the proper use of specialized tools for aircraft maintenance and inspections.

Maintain cleanliness and safety of the workshop or hangar area.

Ensure that all equipment is stored safely and calibrated as required.
6. Safety & Compliance

Follow strict aviation safety standards, operational procedures, and regulatory guidelines.

Learn to identify potential safety hazards during maintenance or ground operations.

Report safety issues promptly to supervisors or safety officers.

Participate in safety drills, emergency response training, and audits.
Required Skills and Competencies
Technical Skills

Basic understanding of aeronautical engineering, aircraft systems, and aviation technology.

Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and electronic components used in aircraft.

Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or willingness to learn.
