Job Description
Job Title: Background Verification (BGV) Specialist
Experience: 4 to 5 Years
Location: Bangalore

Job Summary
The Background Verification (BGV) Specialist will be responsible for managing end-to-end background verification processes for employees and candidates for onsite. This role requires strong knowledge of BGV procedures, vendor coordination, policy compliance, and stakeholder communication to ensure timely and accurate verification outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the end-to-end background verification process, including initiation, tracking, follow-ups, and closure of cases.
Coordinate with external BGV vendors to ensure timely completion of checks such as employment, education, criminal, address, and identity verification.
Review and analyze BGV reports, identify discrepancies, and flag adverse findings for further action.
Ensure adherence to company BGV policies, compliance standards, and local/regional regulatory requirements.
Act as a point of contact for HR, Talent Acquisition, and Business stakeholders on all BGV-related matters.
Maintain accurate records, dashboards, and MIS reports related to BGV status, TAT, and escalations.
Handle pre-joining and post-joining verifications, including re-verifications and periodic audits.
Manage candidate communications related to BGV documentation, clarifications, and discrepancies.
Support audits and internal reviews by providing required documentation and status reports.
Continuously identify process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency and compliance.
Required Skills and Competencies
Strong understanding of Background Verification processes and compliance standards.
Experience working with third-party BGV vendors and managing SLAs.
Excellent analytical and attention-to-detail skills for report review and discrepancy management.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Proficiency in MS Excel, HRMS, and CRM/ATS tools.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
Invoicing & validation of number, eye for details.
BGV initiation on US BGV portals like HireRight, Sterling, DISA, Cluso etc is important
Understanding of Drug Test, BGV insufficiencies scenarios for Educational & Employment.
Basic understanding of Criminal checks, Felony & misdemeanor scenarios.
Qualifications
Graduate or MBA
4–5 years of hands-on experience in Background Verification, HR Operations, or Compliance-related roles.
Prior experience in IT / ITES
Preferred Attributes
Exposure to global BGV processes (US) is an advantage.
