Job Overview

The Baker Chef will be responsible for preparing and baking a variety of breads, pastries, desserts, and specialty baked products. The role involves measuring ingredients, following recipes, mixing doughs and batters, operating baking equipment, and ensuring food quality and safety standards are maintained at all times.

The candidate should have a passion for baking, a creative mindset, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, often under strict timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Preparation of Baked Goods

    • Prepare doughs, batters, fillings, and toppings for a variety of bakery products.

    • Bake breads, cakes, pastries, cookies, pies, and other baked items.

    • Follow standardized recipes and maintain consistency in taste, texture, and appearance.

  2. Recipe Development & Innovation

    • Develop new recipes and experiment with flavors to create unique bakery items.

    • Modify existing recipes to cater to customer preferences, dietary needs, or seasonal trends.

    • Introduce creative plating and presentation techniques for bakery displays.

  3. Quality Control

    • Monitor baking times and temperatures to ensure perfect results.

    • Inspect finished products for quality, freshness, and visual appeal.

    • Maintain high hygiene standards during preparation and handling.

  4. Inventory & Ingredient Management

    • Keep track of stock levels of raw materials like flour, sugar, chocolate, yeast, etc.

    • Place orders for ingredients and supplies as required.

    • Minimize wastage through proper storage and usage techniques.

  5. Operating Baking Equipment

    • Use ovens, mixers, proofers, dough sheeters, and other bakery machinery efficiently.

    • Ensure all equipment is cleaned, maintained, and handled safely.

  6. Team Coordination

    • Collaborate with pastry chefs, kitchen staff, and service teams for smooth operations.

    • Train junior bakers or assistants in baking techniques and kitchen safety.

    • Maintain effective communication within the kitchen and with management.

  7. Food Safety & Hygiene

    • Follow FSSAI guidelines and maintain hygiene standards in the kitchen.

    • Ensure proper storage of ingredients to avoid spoilage.

    • Keep workstations clean, sanitized, and organized at all times.

  8. Customer Focus

    • Understand customer preferences and design bakery products accordingly.

    • Ensure timely preparation of customized cakes and special orders.

    • Maintain a high level of service quality to retain customer satisfaction.
