The Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, calibration, and repair of a wide range of medical equipment used for patient care in a hospital setting. This role ensures all biomedical devices operate safely, effectively, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:-
Perform routine and preventive maintenance on medical equipment to ensure optimal functioning and patient safety.

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair biomedical equipment such as infusion pumps, defibrillators, patient monitors, ventilators, and imaging systems.

Maintain detailed service records and documentation in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory agencies.

Assist clinical staff in the proper operation and basic troubleshooting of medical devices.

Support equipment inventory control, tagging, and asset management processes.

Collaborate with other departments, vendors, and contractors for equipment installations and service coordination.

Ensure compliance with hospital safety procedures and infection control standards.

Stay current with technological advancements and regulatory updates related to biomedical equipment.
Education & Experience:

Associate’s degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology field required; Bachelor's or Diploma Required preferred.

Minimum of 6 Months to 2 years of experience in a hospital or clinical environment preferred.
Skills:

Strong understanding of electronic and mechanical principles.

Proficient in using diagnostic tools, schematics, and service manuals.

Familiarity with hospital safety standards, electrical safety, and infection control.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with clinical staff and vendors.

Ability to prioritize tasks and respond effectively in critical situations.

Hospital environment; may involve exposure to patient care areas.

Requires lifting equipment and tools, standing for extended periods, and occasional on-call availability.
