Job Summary
We are looking for a polite, well-mannered, and dog-friendly Café Helper to assist with daily cleaning tasks, utensil washing, food service, and basic customer support at our café. The ideal candidate will ensure cleanliness in all areas, help with serving food, and assist with light food prep during peak hours. This is a hands-on position suited for someone who is hardworking, disciplined, presentable, and comfortable working in a customer-facing and pet-friendly environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cleaning and Maintenance

Maintain cleanliness of the entire café, including floors, tables, chairs, counters, restrooms (if applicable), and outdoor seating areas.

Regularly sweep and mop the floor to ensure a hygienic and pleasant environment.

Wipe down surfaces, door handles, display counters, and windows periodically throughout the day.

Empty dustbins and garbage bags regularly and dispose of waste in a sanitary manner.

Ensure restrooms (if part of the café) are clean, well-stocked, and odor-free.
2. Utensil Cleaning

Wash and sanitize all used dishes, glasses, cups, cutlery, and kitchen tools using proper cleaning techniques.

Dry and store all cleaned items in their designated places.

Ensure utensils and cookware are ready for reuse, especially during busy hours.

Use cleaning products responsibly and maintain hygiene standards in the washing area.
3. Serving and Customer Assistance

Serve food and drinks to tables when required.

Hand over takeaway orders politely and promptly to customers.

Assist customers in finding tables or answering basic queries about the menu.

Take orders from customers when the café is crowded or during rush hours (basic order-taking only).

Provide water, cutlery, tissues, or any other required service at the tables.
4. Light Kitchen Assistance

Help with basic chopping, peeling, and vegetable preparation during crowd rush or peak times.

Refill condiments, napkins, and self-service counters as needed.

Bring ingredients or supplies from storage when instructed by the chef or kitchen team.

Ensure all food preparation tasks are done hygienically and safely.
5. General Café Support

Open and close the café with the team, including cleaning and setup duties.

Refill water dispensers, tea/coffee containers, and other self-serve items regularly.

Ensure trays, plates, and cutlery are available for customer use.

Report any equipment issues or breakages to the manager or supervisor.
Required Qualifications & Experience

Education: No formal education required; however, basic literacy is preferred.

Experience: Previous experience as a kitchen helper, cleaner, or café assistant is helpful but not mandatory.

Language: Basic understanding of the local language; polite and respectful communication skills.

Physical Fitness: Should be able to stand for long hours, lift moderate loads, and handle physically demanding tasks.
Personality and Behaviour Requirements

Politeness: Must be soft-spoken, respectful, and well-mannered while interacting with staff and customers.

Dress Code: Must come well-groomed and wear clean clothes or uniform as provided or instructed.

Team Player: Should work in coordination with kitchen staff, servers, and managers to ensure smooth operations.

Attention to Cleanliness: A hygienic appearance and personal cleanliness is a must.

Dog-Friendly: The café is a pet-welcoming space, and the helper must be comfortable around dogs and treat them kindly.
