Car Technician
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Vehicle Inspection and Diagnostics

Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify issues related to engine performance, brakes, suspension, electrical systems, and more.

Use diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot problems accurately.

Communicate findings to customers and service advisors clearly and professionally.
2. Repair and Maintenance
-
Perform repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, and other vehicle components.

Carry out routine maintenance services such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake replacements, and fluid checks.

Replace worn or faulty parts using manufacturer specifications and approved methods.
3. Quality Assurance
-
Ensure all repair and maintenance work meets safety standards and manufacturer guidelines.

Test-drive vehicles after servicing to confirm repairs are successful and vehicles operate correctly.

Maintain high standards of workmanship and attention to detail.
4. Record Keeping
-
Document all services, repairs, parts used, and hours worked accurately in service records or management software.

Assist in inventory management by reporting parts and tool requirements.
-
Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with environmental regulations.
5. Customer Service
-
Interact courteously with customers, explaining technical issues and recommended repairs.

Provide advice on vehicle maintenance and care to improve vehicle longevity.

Address customer concerns and escalate complex issues to senior technicians or management.
Skills and Qualifications:
Educational Requirements:

Diploma or certification in Automotive Technology or Mechanical Engineering.

Vocational training from recognized automotive institutes is preferred.
Experience:
-
Familiarity with different car makes and models, preferably with exposure to both petrol and diesel engines.
Technical Skills:
-
Proficient with automotive diagnostic equipment and tools.

Knowledge of engine management systems, electrical circuits, and vehicle electronics.

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

Skilled in using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Soft Skills:

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Good communication skills to explain technical issues to non-technical customers.
