Job Summary:
A Cath Lab Technician is a vital member of the cardiovascular healthcare team, specializing in diagnostic and interventional procedures related to the heart and blood vessels. The technician assists cardiologists during catheterization procedures such as angiograms, angioplasty, stent placement, and pacemaker insertions by preparing equipment, operating imaging systems, and ensuring patient safety.
The role demands precision, technical knowledge, and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced clinical environment. Cath Lab Technicians are responsible for maintaining a sterile environment, monitoring patient vitals, and ensuring that all equipment functions optimally throughout the procedure.
✅ Assist the cardiologists and nurses during angiography, angioplasty, pacemaker insertion, and other procedures.
✅ Monitor patient’s vital signs and hemodynamics during procedures and promptly notify the team of abnormalities.
✅ Handle catheters, guide wires, and related devices under aseptic conditions.
✅ Operate imaging equipment and physiologic recording systems efficiently.
✅ Prepare, process, and organize imaging data and reports for future reference.
✅ Perform quality control checks to assure proper functionality of all equipment.
✅ Handle inventory and restocking of consumable items in the Cath Lab.
✅ Follow radiation safety and aseptic protocols to protect patient and staff from unnecessary exposure and contamination.
✅ Provide patient care and support before, during, and after procedures.
