Job Summary:
A Cath Lab Technician is a specialized allied healthcare professional who assists in diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures such as angiograms, angioplasties, stent placements, pacemaker insertions, and electrophysiology studies. Working under the supervision of a cardiologist or interventional radiologist, the Cath Lab Technician plays a critical role in preparing the lab, operating imaging and monitoring equipment, assisting during procedures, and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the process.
This position requires a combination of technical expertise, precision, communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. It is suited for individuals who are passionate about patient care and cardiovascular health.
Prepare the cardiac catheterization laboratory and assist with diagnostic and interventional procedures such as angiograms, angioplasties, and stent placements
Operate and monitor imaging and hemodynamic equipment
Ensure all equipment is functioning properly and troubleshoot technical issues when necessary
Monitor patients’ vital signs and respond promptly to any changes during procedures
Maintain sterile technique and prepare sterile trays and instruments
Assist physicians and nurses with patient positioning and catheter insertion
Document all procedures and maintain accurate patient records
Ensure compliance with all safety and infection control protocols
Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed
Participate in emergency on-call rotations (if applicable)
