Job Description
Job Summary
A CCTV Engineer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) systems and associated components. This includes working with digital and analog systems, networked surveillance cameras, video management systems, and related security infrastructure. The engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of a facility or premises by ensuring the surveillance system is operating efficiently and effectively.
This position requires a strong technical background, good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and security. CCTV Engineers may work in various environments, including commercial buildings, industrial sites, retail stores, educational institutions, government facilities, and residential complexes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Installation of CCTV Systems

Install new CCTV systems including analog, IP (Internet Protocol), and hybrid surveillance systems.

Set up cameras, cabling, storage devices (e.g., DVRs, NVRs), monitors, and supporting infrastructure.

Mount and position cameras to achieve maximum coverage and image quality.

Configure camera settings for optimal performance, including resolution, frame rate, motion detection, and night vision.

Integrate CCTV systems with other security systems such as access control and alarms.
2. Maintenance and Servicing

Perform routine maintenance and system health checks to ensure CCTV equipment is fully operational.

Clean camera lenses, adjust angles, and replace faulty components when necessary.

Monitor system performance and diagnose issues with hardware or software components.

Ensure the video management software (VMS) is updated and configured properly.

Provide support for backup and recovery of recorded footage.
3. Troubleshooting and Repairs

Identify and resolve faults in existing CCTV systems, including wiring issues, connectivity problems, or malfunctioning hardware.

Use testing equipment such as multimeters, network testers, and software diagnostic tools to analyze issues.

Replace or repair damaged or defective components, such as power supplies, camera units, or hard drives.

Document troubleshooting procedures and resolution steps for future reference.
4. System Design and Upgrades

Assist in the design and planning of new CCTV systems tailored to customer needs and site requirements.

Recommend appropriate equipment based on coverage requirements, lighting conditions, and budget constraints.

Upgrade legacy systems to modern IP-based systems and ensure compatibility with current network standards.

Work closely with project managers and IT departments to implement complex surveillance solutions.
5. Customer Support and Training

Provide user training on the operation of CCTV systems and video playback procedures.

Offer technical support to clients and end-users regarding system operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
