CCTV Technician
Job Description
Set up DVR/NVR systems and configure remote access
Perform cable routing and basic electrical connections
Conduct regular service, maintenance, and troubleshooting of CCTV systems
Identify and fix faults in existing installations
Provide site visit reports and documentation when needed
Coordinate with customers and internal teams for installation schedules
Maintain tools, equipment, and work logs properly
Key Responsibilities:
1. Installation of CCTV Systems
-
Install CCTV cameras (IP and analog), DVRs/NVRs, cables, power supplies, and related accessories at client sites.

Mount cameras in designated locations ensuring proper angle, stability, and weather protection (if applicable).
-
Perform cable routing through conduits, walls, and ceilings using appropriate tools.
-
Set up and configure DVR/NVR systems, monitors, and recording software as per client requirements.
2. System Configuration and Integration
-
Configure and optimize cameras, recording settings, and remote access functions.

Integrate CCTV systems with other security devices such as access control, intercom, and alarms where required.

Ensure proper network configuration for remote monitoring and live video streaming.

Assign IP addresses, set up port forwarding, and ensure firewall/router settings are properly configured.
3. Troubleshooting and Maintenance
-
Diagnose and resolve hardware/software faults in CCTV systems, including loss of signal, image distortion, recording failure, and connectivity issues.

Replace or repair defective components such as cameras, cables, hard drives, or power adapters.

Conduct preventive maintenance and system health checks on a scheduled basis.

Keep track of service logs, repairs, and replacement history for each client or system.
4. Client Coordination and Support
-
Communicate effectively with clients to understand security needs and site-specific challenges.

Provide basic training to end users on system usage, playback, and accessing footage remotely.

Offer after-installation support and respond to service calls in a timely manner.

Maintain a professional attitude and provide excellent customer service at all times.
5. Documentation and Reporting
-
Prepare and maintain detailed documentation for installation sites, including system diagrams, equipment lists, and configuration settings.

Submit daily or weekly activity reports to supervisors or project managers.

Maintain checklists for tools, components, and safety gear.
6. Site Surveys and Planning

Conduct site inspections to assess installation requirements and environmental factors.

Recommend appropriate camera types, placements, and coverage areas based on client objectives.

Assist with system design, material estimation, and wiring plans.
