Job Overview
A CCTV Technician is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) systems, surveillance cameras, and related security equipment. This role ensures that security systems operate effectively to safeguard company assets, premises, and people.
The ideal candidate should have strong technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and hands-on experience in setting up and maintaining CCTV systems, DVRs, NVRs, IP cameras, and access control systems.
Key Responsibilities
A. Installation & Setup

Install and configure CCTV cameras, DVR/NVR systems, IP cameras, video management software, and related equipment.

Plan cable routes, mount cameras, and ensure proper wiring and connectivity.

Position and focus cameras for optimal coverage and image clarity.

Integrate CCTV systems with other security devices, such as alarms, access control, and intercom systems.

Conduct site surveys to identify suitable camera locations and network infrastructure requirements.
B. Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on CCTV equipment.

Diagnose and resolve issues related to camera angles, image quality, power supply, network connectivity, and storage failures.

Replace damaged or faulty cameras, cables, or components as required.

Ensure systems are always fully operational and secure.
C. Network & System Configuration

Configure and manage IP-based CCTV systems.

Set up and maintain remote monitoring access via mobile apps or secure networks.

Ensure proper integration with servers, switches, and routers.

Regularly update firmware and software to improve system performance and security.
D. Documentation & Reporting

Maintain detailed records of installations, configurations, and maintenance activities.

Prepare technical reports on issues, resolutions, and preventive measures.

Update inventory records for CCTV-related equipment and spare parts.

Assist in preparing project progress reports for management.
E. Compliance & Safety

Ensure CCTV installations comply with industry standards, local regulations, and company policies.

Follow health and safety guidelines during installation and maintenance work.

Handle sensitive surveillance data with confidentiality and integrity.

Keep up-to-date with emerging technologies, best practices, and security protocols.
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills

Proficient in CCTV system installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.

Strong knowledge of analog and IP-based camera systems.

Experience working with DVRs, NVRs, VMS platforms, and cloud-based monitoring systems.

Familiarity with LAN, WAN, and wireless networking concepts.

Ability to handle tools, testing meters, crimping devices, and cable management equipment.
