Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
The CCTV Technician is responsible for the full lifecycle of CCTV system installation and service. Below are the major responsibilities and duties associated with the role:

Conduct site surveys and assess technical feasibility for CCTV installation based on client requirements and premises layout.

Install CCTV cameras, Digital Video Recorders (DVRs), Network Video Recorders (NVRs), monitors, and necessary cabling (coaxial or CAT6) as per system design.

Perform camera mounting, wiring, drilling, conduit work, and wall penetration while maintaining structural safety and aesthetics.

Connect and configure DVR/NVR systems, adjust camera focus and direction, and ensure all cameras are capturing the correct field of view.

Setup video recording parameters, remote viewing features, and system notifications. Configure mobile access for clients through applications on smartphones and computers.

Assign and manage static IP addresses, perform port forwarding on routers, and troubleshoot network connectivity issues related to IP cameras.

Ensure camera feeds are properly stored and backups are configured for future retrieval. Provide guidance on storage space management and data retention settings.

Identify and replace faulty equipment, clean lenses, adjust angles, and maintain image clarity during scheduled maintenance visits.

Respond to service calls for malfunctioning systems, troubleshoot technical issues, and restore functionality quickly and efficiently.

Provide training to clients and end-users on operating the CCTV system, accessing recorded footage, managing user permissions, and performing simple maintenance.

Maintain tools and test equipment used for installations such as drills, testers, crimpers, ladders, and safety gear.

Maintain a record of equipment installed, service logs, and site visit reports using paper-based or mobile apps as per company protocol.

Coordinate with the technical supervisor or project manager for daily tasks, material requirements, and client feedback.

Follow safety guidelines and site regulations when working on rooftops, walls, poles, or in confined areas. Use harnesses, gloves, helmets, and other personal protective equipment as required.

Ensure proper tagging and labeling of cables, devices, and power connections for future maintenance and system upgrades.

Perform testing and quality checks after each installation to verify camera angles, recording capability, motion detection, and remote access.

Assist in upgrading or expanding existing systems when clients require additional coverage or feature enhancements.

Work with other team members, including electricians, IT staff, or contractors, during large-scale or multi-site installations.
