Job Description
Ph.D. Programme - August 2016 conducts CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CSIR-CECRI)
CSIR-CECRI invites applications from highly talented and research oriented candidates interested in pursuing Ph.D. Programme. Candidates selected for admission to Ph.D programme will be registered under Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research(AcSIR), NewDelhi.
Eligibility:
Ph.D. (Science): Master’s degree in Science having a valid National level fellowship (JRF/SRF of various funding agencies, e.g. CSIR, UGC, DBT, DST etc.), INSPIRE or other equivalent fellowships.
Ph.D. (Engineering): A Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology/ Pharmacy or a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology with exceptionally good academic record or a Master’s degree in Sciences with a valid GATE score or UGC/CSIR NET/NBHM or valid CSIR-SRF or equivalent fellowship.
Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. (Nutrition Biology): Candidates with Bachelor’s degree in Science/ Biotechnology/ Food Science/ Agriculture/Medicine/Pharmacology with Minimum First Class with 65% in B.Sc. degree (60% for SC/ ST students) or) Minimum first class in B. Tech. / B.E/ M.B.B.S/ B. Pharm. in Biotechnology/Food Technology.
Note: CSIR Scientists recruited 2009 onwards/Existing Research Fellows/Projects Assistants (working at CSIR labs for a minimum of one year) who fulfil the qualifications are also eligible to apply.
Selection Process: All applications received through AcSIR will be screened at CSIR-CECRI by a committee and only those candidates who are found suitable will be called for interview/counselling at CSIR-CECRI. However candidates called for interview / counseling will be provided accommodation at CSIR-CECRI Guest House on payment of nominal charges.
Fellowship: Candidates selected for the Ph.D. Programme at CSIR-CECRI shall draw their fellowship and other allowances, contingency etc., as per the scheme applicable to the candidate.

Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CECRI), founded in 1948, has its roots in the patriotic fervor of Dr. R. M. Alagappa Chettiar, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Dr. Shanthi Swarup Bhatnagar. On January 14, 1953 CECRI became a physical reality when Dr. S. Radhakrishnan dedicated CECRI, the twelfth national laboratory under the CSIR, to the nation. CECRI today is a proud family of 427 employees, 137 of whom are scientists. It represents the largest research establishment for electrochemistry in South Asia, Headquartered at Karaikudi, CECRI has extension centers in Chennai, Mandapam and Tuticorin. Located at latitude of 10.06O and longitude of 78.8O, CECRI, Karaikudi is about 85 km away both from Trichi and Madurai. The ambience at CECRI is quite apt for R&D work.
