Job Description
Doctoral Fellowships conducts Central Institute of Classical Tamil
In order to promote scholarship in Classical Tamil, the Central Institute of Classical Tamil proposes to award Doctoral Fellowships to eligible candidates
Eligibility : The candidate should have registered for Ph.D. (Full time) in any recognized University or Institute. The evidence of Ph.D. registration should be enclosed. Postgraduate Degree holders with not less than 55 marks in Literature, Linguistics, or allied disciplines such as Anthropology, Sociology, Education, Archaeology, Epigraphy, Musicology, Performing Arts, Folklore, Philosophy, etc. are eligible to apply. Candidates belonging to SC/ST category will be given relaxation of 5 marks. Subject chosen for Ph.D. thesis should pertain to any area of scholarship relating to the period prior to 6 th A.D. and also related to the 41 classical texts as prescribed by CICT.
Fellowship : The Doctoral Fellowship includes Rs. 12,000/- per month for 2 years with a contingency grant of Rs.12,000/- per annum.
Age : The candidate should not have exceeded 30 years of age as on 3rd September 2016

This is an Institute constituted specifically for carrying out higher research Classical Tamil at international levels not to be found elsewhere globally. This unique Institute is functioning in Chennai from May 19, 2008. Earlier, from March, 2006 to May 18, 2008, the Institute was functioning in the campus of the Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore and it was called Centre for Excellence of Classical Tamil.
