Chemist - Production / Formulation / Analytical Lead
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Formulation Development:
-
Design and develop new formulations based on product requirements, regulatory guidelines, and market demands.

Optimize existing formulations for improved stability, cost-efficiency, performance, and compliance.
-
Conduct pre-formulation studies, ingredient compatibility tests, and stability trials.
-
Prepare lab-scale and pilot-scale batches; analyze performance, physical properties, and shelf life.
-
Maintain detailed formulation records, including raw material specifications, batch sheets, and validation protocols.
2. Analytical Testing & Method Development:
-
Lead analytical method development and validation activities in compliance with ICH guidelines.

Develop and validate quantitative and qualitative methods (HPLC, GC, UV-VIS, FTIR, titration, etc.) for raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.

Interpret analytical data to ensure quality, consistency, and conformance to specifications.

Troubleshoot instrumentation issues and manage calibration, maintenance, and documentation.
-
Conduct impurity profiling, assay testing, and stability indicating studies.
3. Production Support & Scale-Up:
-
Support the transition of laboratory formulations to production by providing technical guidance.
-
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to scale up formulations while maintaining consistency and performance.

Lead process optimization and troubleshooting activities during batch production.

Review and approve production protocols, batch manufacturing records (BMRs), and SOPs.
-
Ensure that all production processes are compliant with cGMP, safety, and regulatory standards.
4. Quality Assurance & Compliance:
-
Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and external regulatory bodies (e.g., FDA, EMA, WHO, GMP).
-
Conduct internal audits and participate in external regulatory inspections and technical reviews.

Maintain accurate and complete documentation including laboratory notebooks, COAs, stability reports, and deviation logs.
-
Support investigations of OOS (Out of Specification), OOT (Out of Trend), and CAPA implementation.
5. Leadership & Team Coordination:
-
Supervise junior chemists, analysts, and technicians across production, formulation, and QC labs.
-
Provide technical training, mentorship, and task delegation to ensure team productivity and competency.
-
Coordinate with cross-functional teams including R&D, QA, QC, production, procurement, and regulatory affairs.
-
Ensure safety protocols, lab hygiene, and chemical handling procedures are strictly followed by the team.
6. Regulatory Documentation & Tech Transfer:

Prepare product dossiers, technical data sheets (TDS), and formulation development reports for regulatory submissions.

Assist in technology transfer and process validation for commercial production at manufacturing sites.
-
Collaborate with regulatory affairs team to meet requirements of local and international authorities.
7. Inventory & Equipment Management:
-
Monitor inventory levels of chemicals, solvents, reagents, and lab supplies.
-
Ensure proper storage, labeling, and disposal of chemicals according to safety standards.
-
Maintain logs for equipment usage, calibration, servicing, and preventive maintenance.
