Job Description

Skills required:

Responsibilities:

Advising clients on design specifications, materials, and methods to ensure that the design meets their needs

Recommending changes to construction methods or materials to improve safety standards

Providing design services for public works projects such as roads, bridges, airport terminals, schools, hospitals, prisons, recreational facilities, etc.

Consulting with clients to determine project needs and goals, then developing conceptual designs that meet those needs

Preparing drawings and other documents required for bidding and construction of a project

Developing plans to repair or replace existing structures or infrastructure, such as bridges and roads

Preparing construction plans that include drawings of the project design, materials used, and details about construction methods

Preparing bids for projects and negotiating with contractors regarding costs and schedules

Preparing design details such as grading plans, traffic flow charts, or plumbing schematics
