Job Description
Position Summary:
We are seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Civil Engineer to join our engineering and construction team. The Civil Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, supervising, and maintaining construction projects and infrastructure such as roads, buildings, bridges, dams, water systems, and more. This role combines office-based planning and on-site implementation, requiring a strong grasp of engineering principles, site management, and project coordination.
The ideal candidate will possess technical proficiency, a proactive attitude, and the ability to manage various stages of engineering projects from feasibility studies to completion. Civil Engineers play a vital role in ensuring that infrastructure is safe, sustainable, and built to specification, on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Planning and Design:

Prepare project proposals, technical drawings, blueprints, and construction plans using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit).

Perform site investigations, soil tests, and feasibility studies to assess suitability and constraints for construction.

Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, and other data to plan infrastructure layout and design.

Calculate load factors, stresses, and material quantities using engineering formulas and software tools.
2. Project Execution and Supervision:

Oversee construction activities, ensuring projects are executed according to approved designs, safety standards, and specifications.

Coordinate with contractors, architects, and subcontractors on technical requirements, timelines, and resource allocation.

Monitor progress at construction sites and resolve technical issues that arise during construction.

Ensure proper site safety procedures are followed and quality standards are maintained throughout the project.
3. Estimation and Budgeting:

Prepare cost estimates, bill of quantities (BOQ), and material take-offs for budgeting and procurement.

Work with procurement teams to recommend suitable materials, suppliers, and equipment.

Monitor project costs and track variances to ensure budgets are maintained.

Suggest value engineering solutions to reduce cost without compromising quality.
4. Compliance and Documentation:

Ensure compliance with local and national building codes, environmental laws, and safety regulations.

Obtain permits and approvals from municipal authorities and regulatory agencies as required.

Maintain comprehensive records including project logs, inspection reports, site photographs, and construction schedules.

Participate in client and stakeholder meetings, reporting project status and addressing concerns.
5. Quality Assurance and Testing:

Conduct or supervise field and laboratory testing of construction materials (e.g., concrete, steel, soil).

Review quality of work delivered by contractors to ensure it meets design intent and standards.

Inspect structures during and after construction for defects or structural integrity issues.

Recommend corrective actions in case of non-conformance or quality issues.
6. Teamwork and Communication:

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, architects, planners, and drafters.

Train and supervise junior engineers, interns, or site supervisors as needed.

Communicate effectively with clients, government bodies, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.

Contribute to internal process improvement and innovation within the engineering team.
