Job Description
Job Summary:
A Civil Engineer is responsible for designing, planning, developing, and overseeing construction and infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, buildings, dams, and water supply systems. This role involves a blend of technical knowledge, project management, site supervision, and collaboration with multiple stakeholders including architects, contractors, government officials, and clients.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction processes, engineering principles, and safety regulations. A Civil Engineer should be able to assess project feasibility, manage timelines, monitor costs, and ensure compliance with building codes and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Planning and Design:

Develop and prepare engineering designs, technical drawings, and plans using CAD and other engineering software.

Analyze survey reports, maps, and other data to plan projects.

Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and work schedules in coordination with the project team.

Collaborate with architects and other engineers to integrate structural, mechanical, and electrical systems in designs.
2. Site Supervision and Project Execution:

Oversee and monitor on-site construction activities to ensure compliance with approved designs, specifications, and safety standards.

Coordinate with contractors, laborers, and site supervisors to manage daily operations and resolve issues.

Ensure quality control by inspecting materials, workmanship, and site conditions regularly.

Maintain daily logs and reports to track progress, resource usage, and incidents.
3. Project Management and Coordination:

Liaise with clients, consultants, and stakeholders to communicate project status, updates, and concerns.

Assist in procurement of materials and ensure timely delivery to site.

Coordinate with the procurement and finance teams to manage project costs and timelines effectively.

Participate in site meetings, progress reviews, and technical discussions.
4. Compliance and Safety:

Ensure all construction activities comply with relevant regulations, building codes, and environmental laws.

Implement and enforce safety protocols to prevent site accidents and promote worker well-being.

Prepare documentation for permits, inspections, and approvals as required by local authorities.
5. Technical Documentation and Reporting:

Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and project documentation for internal and external use.

Maintain accurate project records including site drawings, contracts, change orders, and inspection reports.

Submit timely progress reports to project managers or clients.
6. Maintenance and Post-Construction Activities:

Conduct final inspections and assist in commissioning of completed projects.

Provide guidance on maintenance procedures and help in resolving post-construction issues.

Support the preparation of as-built drawings and handover documentation.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.

Minimum years of professional experience in construction or infrastructure development.

Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, Revit, Civil 3D, or similar.

Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.

Excellent understanding of structural analysis and design principles.

Familiarity with project management tools and techniques.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.

Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities.
