Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Cloud Engineer on the Build Labs Team, you are responsible for full application migration and deployment to OpenShift. This can include app containerization, application deployment to OpenShift, optimization and monitoring on Kubernetes/Openshift, update REST APIs and messaging flows for OpenShift, develop testing strategies, interface with data storage solutions of different types (block, file, and object storage) on multiple cloud providers including on-prem, modernize devops pipelines, setup test environments, install and administer OpenShift on industry-leading cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google, regional clouds and on-prem) with leading technologies – for many of the biggest and most complex ISV and partner systems. You will work with a team of engineers with expertise in industry-leading cloud platforms and technologies to implement these transformations and collaborate directly with ISV and partner engineers.
Build, migrate and deploy containerized applications to Kubernetes/OpenShift, the leading Container Orchestration (CO) platform.Optimize applications for cloud and add High Availability (HA) by updating applications developed by IBM Partners. Integrate a diverse range of solutions for data persistence, security, scalability, monitoring and logging, SIEM, APIs and messaging flows by multiple cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google, IBM and regional clouds as well as on-prem). Develop testing strategies and manage devops pipelines for many of the biggest and most complex ISV and Partner systems. Help to install and administer OpenShift on industry-leading cloud platforms. Demonstrate your passion for learning, experimenting, and implementing innovating frontend, middleware and backend technologies.
You will: Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Must exhibit excellent written and verbal English communication skillsBS in Computer Science or comparable field of study
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Experience with Jenkins, Tekton, GitOps, AWS DevOps, Azure DevOps (ADO) or equivalent. Experience with networking and security for containers, Kubernetes or OpenShift. Experience with REST APIs and event-driven messaging like Kafka, Mosquitto, HiveMQ, MQ or other. Experience with Kubernetes observability stack, like ELK, Instana, Dynatrace, or DataDog. Experience with networking configurations like DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP. Experience working with system administration tasks.

You will:
- Be directly exposed to and interact with diverse architectures and production systems by ISVs and Partners and work with their architects and engineers.
- Work in many different technology areas and have the opportunity to build skills and experience in areas that really excite you.
- Work on multiple cloud providers like AWS, Azure, GCP, IBM Cloud
- Have access to all the technical and professional training courses and certifications to become an expert in your field.
- Be able to work on multiple strategic areas in Cloud & AI.

- Have opportunities to understand and learn new technologies from SMEs and leading ISVs and partners.
- Software Development experience in one or more of Java, C#, Python, Go, JavaScript/Node.JS.
- Experience with operator-sdk, Go or Ansible-based Operators.
- Experience working with one of the public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, IBM Cloud).
- Experience working with containers and Kubernetes or OpenShift.
- Experience working with bash or powerscript for scripting.
- Experience working with Git-based SCM.
- Experience working with Agile development methodologies across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience of working with build pipelines.
- Understanding or experience of working with a database management system.
- Understanding or experience of automating provisioning & configuration management of infrastructure with tools like Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef.
- Understanding or experience with modernization and/or migration of applications to one or more of the public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP, IBM Cloud etc.).
- Understanding infrastructure, networking and security concepts.
Must exhibit excellent written and verbal English communication skills
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- Experience with Service Mesh, Helm.
- Experience with SQL, NoSQL, in-memory and/or caching.
