Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and responsible CNC Lathe Machine Operator to join our production team. The CNC Lathe Operator will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC turning machines to produce high-precision metal components as per the required specifications.
The role involves reading technical drawings, loading programs, monitoring machining processes, performing quality checks, and ensuring that the finished parts meet quality and dimensional standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with CNC turning centers, basic programming skills, and a strong focus on accuracy, safety, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
1. CNC Machine Setup and Operation

Set up CNC lathe machines, install tools, chucks, jigs, and workpieces as per job requirements.

Load CNC programs into the machine (via controller or manually) and make necessary offset adjustments.

Operate machines to perform turning, facing, boring, threading, grooving, and parting operations.

Conduct initial trial runs to ensure accuracy and adherence to design specifications.
2. Reading Drawings and Instructions

Read and interpret engineering drawings, part specifications, and machining instructions.

Understand geometric tolerances (GD&T), symbols, and surface finish requirements.

Follow job sheets, process charts, and routing documents.
3. Quality Control and Inspection

Measure finished components using precision instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and height gauges.

Ensure parts meet dimensional tolerances and surface finish requirements.

Identify and report any defects, non-conformities, or deviations in production.

Fill out in-process inspection reports and maintain production logs.
4. Tool and Program Adjustments

Monitor tool wear and replace tools as required to maintain dimensional accuracy.

Make basic changes to machine parameters and offsets to correct deviations.

Communicate with the programmer or supervisor if program modifications are needed.
5. Machine Maintenance and Safety

Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning chips, lubricating parts, and checking coolant levels.

Report any machine faults or breakdowns to maintenance personnel immediately.

Follow safety protocols, wear PPE, and ensure the machine area is clean and hazard-free.
6. Documentation and Reporting

Maintain accurate records of daily production output, rejection rates, and downtime.

Assist in production planning and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.

Submit inspection reports and contribute to quality audits when required.
