Job Description
Responsibilities:
* Maintain equipment and report issues
* Follow safety protocols at all times
* Load/unload workpieces onto machine
* Set up, program, and operate CNC turning machine

Key Responsibilities
1. CNC Machine Setup and Operation
-
Prepare CNC cutting machines (plasma, flame, or laser) before production by loading programs, positioning materials, and checking settings.

Select and load the appropriate tools and materials for each job.

Secure raw steel or iron sheets/plates onto the machine bed using clamps or lifting equipment.

Calibrate the machine as needed to ensure precise cutting, adjusting parameters such as speed, feed rate, and cut depth.
2. Machine Programming and Adjustments
-
Load pre-written G-code or CNC programs and make minor edits for job-specific needs.

Interpret blueprints, drawings, or CAD files to verify machine instructions.

Identify and resolve simple programming issues and make offset adjustments as needed.

Collaborate with engineers or supervisors if complex programming or tooling changes are required.
3. Quality Control and Inspection
-
Measure and inspect cut materials using rulers, calipers, gauges, or templates to confirm specifications.

Monitor the first piece of each run to ensure proper machine function and accurate cutting.

Detect and correct defects during production, including misalignment, rough edges, or incorrect dimensions.

Record inspection results and report any consistent deviations to the production supervisor.
4. Maintenance and Safety
-
Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of CNC machines (lubrication, nozzle cleaning, etc.).

Identify and report any mechanical issues or safety hazards.

Keep the work area clean and organized, free from metal scraps and debris.

Follow all safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, and steel-toed boots.
5. Documentation and Reporting

Complete job order forms, machine logs, and production reports accurately.

Report production numbers, downtimes, material usage, and scrap levels.

Communicate with supervisors or team members about project progress or potential delays.
