CNC Operator
Job Description
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Operator to set up, operate, and maintain CNC machines. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in interpreting technical drawings, ensuring machine accuracy, and maintaining quality standards in line with production goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. CNC Machine Setup and Operation

Set up CNC machines by preparing tooling, fixtures, and raw materials based on production requirements.

Load programs into CNC machines and verify their functionality.

Operate CNC machines (e.g., mills, lathes, routers) to produce parts according to specifications.

Adjust machine settings (feed rate, speed, tool offsets) during production to ensure the best possible results.
2. Interpretation of Technical Drawings and Blueprints
-
Read and interpret blueprints, CAD/CAM designs, and engineering drawings to understand the specifications of the required parts.

Ensure that dimensions and tolerances are met by following the blueprints and making adjustments as needed.

Understand geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and how it relates to part design and machine setup.
3. Quality Control and Inspection

Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other measuring tools to ensure parts meet precise tolerances.

Identify and correct any deviations or defects in the manufactured parts.

Ensure finished products meet the required standards of quality and specification before passing them onto the next stage in production.

Document inspection results and maintain records for traceability and quality control purposes.
4. Machine Maintenance and Troubleshooting

Perform basic maintenance tasks on CNC machines, including lubrication, cleaning, and part replacement.

Identify and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues with CNC machines, notifying the maintenance team when necessary.

Minimize machine downtime by performing minor repairs and ensuring machines are in optimal working condition.

Maintain an inventory of tools and spare parts required for the operation and repair of CNC machinery.
5. Continuous Improvement and Efficiency

Continuously monitor machine performance and production output to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.

Suggest changes to programs, tooling, or processes to optimize production cycles and reduce material waste.

Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and company guidelines to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
6. Health and Safety Compliance

Operate CNC machines safely, adhering to all company and industry safety guidelines.

Follow proper lock-out/tag-out procedures when working with machines.

Report safety hazards or equipment malfunctions promptly to supervisors.

Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for the role.
7. Documentation and Reporting

Complete production logs, machine maintenance records, and quality inspection reports.

Report daily production output, issues, and machine performance to supervisors.

Document any machine adjustments, tool changes, or production discrepancies for future reference and troubleshooting.
