Job Summary

We are hiring Collection Officers for a leading Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) to manage and execute field collections across Chennai. The ideal candidate will be responsible for recovering overdue EMIs on personal, vehicle, or small business loans from customers through field visits, negotiations, and structured follow-ups.

As a Collection Officer, your key responsibility will be to ensure timely collection of EMIs, reduce delinquencies, and maintain a positive relationship with borrowers while adhering to company policies and regulatory guidelines. This is a field-intensive job and requires candidates who are proactive, disciplined, and capable of managing on-ground recovery operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Loan EMI Collection

  • Visit customers at their residence or business location to collect due or overdue EMIs on various loan products.

  • Educate borrowers about their pending dues, repayment terms, and consequences of non-payment.

  • Persuade customers to make timely payments and maintain good repayment discipline.

  • Collect payments through digital apps, bank transfers, or cash (as per company policy) and issue receipts if applicable.

2. Recovery Follow-up

  • Identify delinquent accounts and conduct regular follow-up visits and calls.

  • Update customer payment commitments and follow-up schedules in the system.

  • Negotiate settlements, part payments, or restructuring plans based on company guidelines.

  • Escalate complex or non-cooperative cases to the legal/recovery team.

3. Field Operations

  • Plan and manage daily field visit routes to cover maximum customers efficiently.

  • Ensure 20–30 customer visits per day, based on assigned list and area.

  • Maintain records of each visit, customer interaction, and payment outcome.

  • Ensure safety, professionalism, and legal compliance during all recovery efforts.

4. Reporting and Documentation

  • Maintain accurate and timely records of collections made, pending accounts, and customer behavior.

  • Submit daily reports to the Team Leader or Collection Manager.

  • Coordinate with back-office and legal teams for account closures, legal notices, and settlements.

  • Adhere strictly to documentation processes and KYC norms while collecting payments.

Required Skills and Qualities

  • Strong Communication: Ability to speak fluently in Tamil; basic understanding of English/Hindi is a plus.

  • Negotiation Skills: Confident in handling difficult conversations and convincing defaulters to repay.

  • Field Work Capability: Physically fit and willing to travel extensively across assigned areas in Chennai.

  • Professional Conduct: Must follow ethical collection practices and company protocols.

  • Time Management: Able to manage time effectively and meet daily visit and recovery targets.

  • Technically Aware: Familiar with smartphone apps for collection tracking, reporting, and location mapping.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Gender: Male candidates only (due to travel, safety, and recovery operational reasons).

  • Education: Minimum 12th pass (PUC / HSC). Graduates preferred but not mandatory.

  • Experience:

    • Experience in loan recovery or field collections (NBFC, Bank, Microfinance, etc.) preferred.

    • Freshers with strong fieldwork interest and communication skills may also apply.

  • Age: 21 to 35 years

  • Language: Must be fluent in Tamil (spoken and understanding)
