Job Description
JD : Community Moderator
The Community Moderator will engage with and moderate user-generated content on the DIY platform by implementing DIY’s Community guidelines. This role coordinates with the Moderation team to support its mission, ensuring a safe and positive environment and helping to cultivate a strong community around the DIY ethos. The Community Moderator must also be a self-motivated person who thrives in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment without the need for close oversight and direction from their manager.
Responsibilities
Engage meaningfully with new users and encourage them to upgrade to the paid version of the product
Know and enforce the community guidelines
Maintain a positive, curious and friendly atmosphere in the community
Welcome new users, facilitate user connections and respond to user’s requests
Help users in navigating and discovering content and features on the platform
Review all user-generated content (posts, comments, images, video and audio) and take appropriate action (delete or approve flagged posts, act on spam, language, bullying, and inappropriate behavior)
Moderate live online workshops for the community with external partners
Assist in running promotions, updating community announcements and other community programs
Regularly collate and feed back insights gained from community moderation into the content and product teams
Identify issues and respond or escalate as appropriate to the Community Manager or other key stakeholders for action
Identify opportunities to encourage the creation of user-generated content
Requirements
Strong organisational and multitasking skills, and a proactive approach
Working operational knowledge and understanding of online community platform moderation tools (Forums, Blogs, Photo Uploads, Commenting etc.)
Comfortable with the internet and social media platforms, and can pick up new tools quickly
Team player, detail focused, reliable with a high level of professionalism and problem-solving skills
A positive attitude towards giving and receiving feedback and continual improvement
Availability to work days, evening, nights, as well as weekends as and when required
Proficiency in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Prior experience in community moderation or in teaching, educating, and working with children aged 5-15
Ability to teach and give insightful feedback on skills and topics of interest to kids will be an added bonus.
