Job Description
COMPONENT ENGINEER
Experience: 2 - 6 Years
Location: Ahmedabad
Responsibilities:
- Support Design Engineering in identification and qualification of electrical and mechanical components.
- Must have critical thinking skills, understanding parts lists, BOM's, electronic categories, components and attributes
- Review, analyse and optimize Bills of Materials (BOMs) down to manufacturer part level.
- Initiate and lead the efforts to identify and qualify second sources for material availability, cost reduction and reliability improvement purposes
- Understand component technology roadmaps/trends and present them to Design Engineering.
- Develop and execute component evaluation, acceptance and qualification test plans.
- Identify critical and high risk components in products and proactively identify and drive solutions to resolve End-of-life (EOL)
- Communicate to component manufacturers regarding component failures
- Ensure components are compliant to necessary environmental and safety standards, e.g. RoHS, REACH, UL, CE, CSA, Conflict Minerals, etc.
- Review and address Product Change Notices (PCNs) from component manufacturers along tracking component lifecycles.
- Provide input to new designs to improve product reliability.
- The Material / Component Engineering will serve as a technical resource to Procurement and Quality
- Maintain updates to Component Supplier management tool and workflows
- Promote coordination between Team members toward recommended solution and execution
Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Electronics Engineering or Diploma in Electronics Engineering
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a component engineer or electronics designer
- Familiar with Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA)
- willing to work in different time zone hours & different shifts ( US/Asia shifts )
- support global customers for electronics engineering over video conference/ video chats and telephone.
- Understand the environments and requirements for both New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Experience with Arena PLM/Silicon Expert a plus.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced professional start up environment.
- Computer proficiency including all Microsoft Office tools and World Wide Web usage
