Computer Hardware and Network Engineer
Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Computer Hardware and Network Engineer to join our technical support and network installation team. The role requires hands-on experience in Wi-Fi router setup, computer hardware servicing, Windows system configuration, and LAN/WAN networking. You will also be involved in outdoor internet installations, customer site visits, and LAN cable installation and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Wi-Fi Router & Internet Setup

Install and configure Wi-Fi routers/modems for home and small office use.

Set up SSID, passwords, DHCP, static IPs, and port forwarding as required.

Troubleshoot signal issues, range limitations, and connectivity drops.

Upgrade router firmware and change router configurations remotely if needed.
2. Customer Internet Configuration
-
Visit client sites to set up internet connections using fiber, broadband, or wireless solutions.

Configure PPPoE or static IP settings in customer premises.
-
Assist customers with basic connectivity issues on mobile, desktop, or smart devices.

Provide support for re-installation, router resets, or password changes.
3. Computer Hardware Support

Assemble, troubleshoot, and repair desktop computers, laptops, and related peripherals.

Replace faulty parts such as RAM, hard drives, power supplies, motherboards, etc.

Install and configure printers, scanners, and USB devices.
-
Perform preventive maintenance and performance optimization.
4. Windows OS Setup & Support

Install and configure Windows OS (7, 10, 11) and basic drivers.

Set up user accounts, internet settings, firewalls, and antivirus.

Troubleshoot boot issues, OS crashes, slow performance, or software conflicts.

Format and reinstall systems while ensuring data backup procedures.
5. LAN & Networking Installation
-
Perform LAN cable layout, cutting, crimping, and labeling.
-
Install switches, access points, and network cabinets if required.
-
Ensure proper RJ45 connectors and CAT5e/CAT6 cable standards are followed.

Conduct basic LAN testing for connectivity and IP address configuration.

Assist in small-scale office network setup and troubleshooting.
6. Outdoor Internet Installation

Set up and align outdoor CPEs, antennas, or receivers for wireless broadband (line of sight or point-to-point).

Ensure waterproofing, earthing, and safety of external devices.
-
Use signal testers or mobile apps to ensure optimal connectivity strength.

Coordinate with backend support teams for alignment and ping tests.
7. Customer Support & Documentation

Explain basic setup steps to end users at the time of installation.

Handle customer queries on-site and offer simple troubleshooting tips.
-
Maintain daily service records, installation logs, and component usage reports.

Communicate professionally and clearly with customers to ensure satisfaction.
Required Skills & Competencies:
Technical Skills
-
Knowledge of computer hardware components, troubleshooting, and repair.

Understanding of networking fundamentals: IP addressing, subnetting, DHCP, DNS.

Experience with routers, switches, modems, and CPE devices.
-
Basic command-line or software tools for ping, traceroute, and network diagnostics.
Field Knowledge

Comfortable working in customer environments and climbing rooftops or poles (if required).

Familiarity with using LAN testers, RJ45 crimping tools, cable management.

Ability to use GPS or mapping apps for locating customer sites.
Soft Skills

Good communication in local language (Hindi/English/Regional).

Customer-friendly behavior with ability to explain tech concepts simply.

Time management and discipline in handling service calls and reporting.
