Constable (Executive) Job Opportunity in Sikkim Police
Qualification: 10+2 (Senior Secondary) passed from the recognized Board at the time of filing of application for all Male and Female Candidates.

Constable (Executive)- Male: 44(Open: 30/Homeguard: 14)
Constable (Executive)- Female: 21(Open: 15/Homeguard: 6)
Age:
a) Constable (Male): Not less than 18 years and not more than 21 years as on 01.07.2018 i.e. those born not earlier than 02.07.1997 and not later than 01.07.2000 with an upper age limit relaxation as under:
(a) Five years in case of BL/SC/ST/Primitive Tribe and their BPL categories.
(b) Three years in case of OBC-CL/OBC-SL and their BPL category.
b) Constable (Female): Not less than 18 years and not more than 25 years as on 01.07.2018 i.e. those born not earlier than 02.07.1993 and not later than 01.07.2000 will be eligible with an upper age limit relaxation as under:
(a) Five years in case of BL/SC/ST / Primitive Tribe.
(b) Three years in case of OBC-CL/OBC-SL and their BPL category.
c) Home Guard Candidates:
(a) Should have served as Home Guards for a minimum period of three years as on 01.07.2018.
(b) Should be in possession of an enrolment or discharge certificate duly certified by the Deputy Commandant Home Guards at the time of submitting the application.
(c) Should not have been charged for offence(s) and punishment listed under 15 (2) of the Sikkim Home Guard Rules, 1993.
(d) There will be no age relaxation as per se. However, all the eligibility conditions will remain the same as per their caste/category.
d) Sportsperson Candidates:
Male:
(a) 18-26 years for OBC-CL/OBC-SL/Unreserved
(b) 18-31 years for BL/SC/ST/Primitive Tribe
Female:
(a) 18-30 years for OBC-CL/OBC-SL/Unreserved

Prior to the independence of the country, the British had introduced the Assam Frontier (Administration of Justice) Regulation, 1945, so as to ensure that a vast majority of disputes and cases, both civil and criminal, were adjudicated in accordance with the prevailing traditional codes of the tribal communities. Even though the Indian Penal Code was already in existence to facilitate holding of trials by regular courts whenever it became absolutely necessary, nevertheless, it was well recognized that the conventional legal system was unsuitable for the tribal societies. The regulations recognized the age old authority of village councils, where they existed, also the authority of village headmen and the system of Chieftainship, in so far as they contributed to the continuance of indigenous legal system. According to the Regulation, the ordinary duties of police in respect of crimes were to be discharged by the village authorities, appointed under section 5 of the Regulation of 1945, who were also entrusted with the task of maintaining peace and order within their jurisdiction.
