Job Description
SAP ABAP Consultant – Roles & Responsibilities
An SAP ABAP Consultant is responsible for developing, customizing, and supporting SAP applications using ABAP programming.
Key responsibilities:
ABAP Development – Develop and maintain ABAP programs, reports, interfaces, and custom applications based on business requirements.
Reports & ALV – Create customized reports using ABAP and ALV to help businesses analyze and display data.
Forms Development – Develop and maintain Smart Forms, SAP Scripts, and Adobe Forms for invoices, purchase orders, and other business documents.
Enhancements – Work on User Exits, Customer Exits, BADIs, and Enhancement Framework to customize standard SAP functionality.
Interfaces – Develop and support interfaces using BAPI, RFC, IDocs, and other integration technologies.
Debugging & Issue Resolution – Analyze production issues, debug ABAP code, identify root causes, and provide fixes.
Database & Data Handling – Work with SAP tables, DDIC, Open SQL, CDS Views, and data extraction processes.
S/4HANA Development – For modern roles, work with S/4HANA, CDS Views, AMDP, and performance optimization.
Testing & Documentation – Perform unit testing, support integration testing, and prepare technical documentation.
Business & Functional Coordination – Understand functional requirements and work with SAP Functional Consultants and business teams to deliver technical solutions.
