Job Description: Country Manager – API Sales (Senior Manager Level)
Position Overview
Cadila Pharmaceuticals Ltd is seeking a high-caliber, entrepreneurial commercial leader to take on the role of Country Manager – API Sales (Senior Manager Level) for the Bangladesh market. Based in Dhaka, this strategic leadership role is divided into two core phases: initially spearheading the physical and legal setup of Cadila’s local subsidiary office, followed by driving exponential business-to-business (B2B) sales growth of our Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) portfolio across Bangladesh's rapidly growing pharmaceutical sector.
The ideal candidate will possess deep-rooted local networks within the Bangladeshi pharma ecosystem, hands-on experience in API corporate sales, and the operational grit required to establish a foreign corporate footprint from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
Phase 1: Subsidiary Setup & Statutory Compliance (30%)
Entity Establishment: Collaborate with Cadila’s global legal, finance, and HR teams to facilitate the smooth registration and setup of the corporate subsidiary office in Dhaka.
Liaison & Licensing: Act as the primary local representative to interface with local authorities, legal consultants, and banking institutions to secure necessary commercial trade licenses, bank accounts, and statutory clearings.
Operational Readiness: Establish local office infrastructure, set up statutory communication channels (such as local ERP/reporting extensions), and assist in formulating local HR and payroll compliance policies tailored to Bangladeshi labor laws.
Phase 2: Strategic Business Development & API Sales (70%)
Market Entry & Mapping: Conduct exhaustive market analysis and customer mapping of major Bangladeshi pharmaceutical manufacturers to identify high-value API pipeline opportunities.
Key Account Management: Build, leverage, and maintain executive-level rapport with procurement, R&D, and techno-commercial heads of major local pharmaceutical companies to secure long-term supply contracts.
Annual Business Planning: Design, implement, and execute comprehensive annual sales forecasts, promotional strategies, and revenue targets for APIs, pellets, and related chemical solutions.
Commercial Excellence: Oversee the end-to-end sales cycle, including price negotiations, high-value bidding, regulatory documentation support, and collaborative collection of bills, security money, and outstanding dues.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with manufacturing and regulatory teams at Cadila’s corporate headquarters in India to ensure product offerings perfectly align with the regulatory compliance standards of the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) in Bangladesh.
Required Experience & Profile
Industry Experience: 10–15 years of progressive experience in B2B corporate sales and marketing, with a strict focus on Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), pellets, or primary pharma solutions within the Bangladesh market.
Leadership Track Record: Proven experience leading localized sales setups, managing distributor networks, or operating within the local office of a foreign multinational pharmaceutical company.
Educational Background: Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or MBA in Marketing / Management Information Systems (MIS) from a reputable institution.
Regulatory Knowledge: Sound foundational understanding of local commercial compliance, including customs, bonds, commercial banking, and VAT/Income Tax Acts impacting raw material imports.
Core Competencies & Key Attributes
Entrepreneurial Mindset: Highly autonomous and resilient, with a proven ability to manage both the administrative headaches of a new office setup and macro-level sales targets simultaneously.
Techno-Commercial Acumen: Deep understanding of the technical properties of APIs, enabling high-level consultations with clients' R&D and QA teams.
Exceptional Negotiation Skills: A master of corporate relationship management with a track record of expanding client bases and significantly shifting market share away from competitors.
Tools & Systems: Proficiency in modern ERP frameworks (specifically SAP) for monthly, quarterly, and pipeline data reporting to global headquarters.
