National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) invites application for the position Crane Operator/Male Nurse/Radio/Wireless Operator

1. Branch / Trade: Radio/Wireless Operator

Branch Code: ROP

No. of Position: 03

Preferable Experience: Operation & maintenance of radio communication (MF/HF SSB and VHF) sets and web base communication facilities with working knowledge of computers.

Qualification and Experience: For Ex-servicemen/ Ex-Para-military/ Ex-Police Forces personnel: - Trade work as per the service records with minimum four years’ experience in radio communication (HF/VHF) devices. For civilians:

a) Candidate should be minimum 12th Standard passed and holding General Operator Certificate (GOC) to operate the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) with four years working experience in radio communication (HF/VHF) devices or

b) Diploma in Engineering (Electronics) with three years working experience in radio communication (HF/VHF) devices. Note: Candidates with Ham (Amateur) Radio License or a Marine Radio Operator Permit will be given preference with working knowledge of English.

Preferable Experience: Handling medical emergencies and trauma/ disaster nursing/ orthopaedic and rehabilitation nursing/handling operation theatre equipment

Qualification and Experience:

a) Diploma in General Nursing with three years experience in relevant field. or

b) Bachelor of Science in Nursing as approved by Indian Nursing Council with two years working experience in relevant field. Note: Candidates with experience in operation theatre/ ICU will be given preference.

Preferable Experience: Operation, maintenance and repair of hydraulic cranes.

Qualification and Experience: For Ex-servicemen/ Ex-Para-military/ Ex-Police Forces personnel: - Trade work as per the service records with minimum four years experience in respective trades For civilians: Heavy motor vehicle license and operating hydraulic cranes preferably of capacity of more than 20 metric tons with minimum four years experience in respective trades

Preferable Experience: Operation, maintenance and repair of heavy motor vehicles preferably snow vehicles, trucks, dozers, cranes etc.

Qualification and Experience: For Ex-servicemen/ Ex-Para-military/ Ex-Police Forces personnel: - Trade work as per the service records with minimum four years experience in respective trades.

For civilians:

a) ITI Certification (Minimum one-year course) in relevant trade with four years relevant experience, or

b) Diploma in Engineering in relevant field with three years working experience in relevant field.

Terms of Employment:

a) The period of contract shall be of 4 months or 14 months depending on the suitability of candidates as assessed by NCPOR and shall start from November/December 2021. Based on the requirement, the contract can also be extended by few months.

b) Contract wages of ₹ 45,103/- (fixed) per month for the entire duration of contract for those who are going to Antarctica on NCPOR contract for the first time. Contract wages of ₹ 60,138/- (fixed) per month for the entire duration of contract for those who already have been to Antarctica on NCPOR contract.

c) Selected candidates as member of team will be entitled for free boarding & lodging onboard ship and at Antarctica with special polar clothing. They will be entitled for special Hardship allowance (HDA) of ₹ 1500/- per day during summer season and ₹ 2000/- per day during winter season for the actual duration of stay in Antarctica. Special Hardship allowance rates are subject to revision in accordance with subsequent government order. a. Winter season will be 1st March to 30th November of each calendar year b. Summer season will be 1st December to 28th / 29th February of succeeding calendar year

d) Selected candidates depending on whether for short term or long term shall be entitled for special kit allowance of Rs. 20000/- (short term) and Rs. 30000/- (long term) to be paid by NCPOR subject to production of original vouchers.

e) Group Personal Accident Insurance Coverage upto 25 lakhs for the selected candidates will be provided by NCPOR for the expedition period.

f) Short listed candidates will have to undergo Medical Examination at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi/ Goa Medical College, Goa and Pre-Antarctic Snow Ice Acclimatisation training at ITBP, Auli (near Joshimath, Garhwal, Himalayas) for about 15 days subject to COVID-19 protocol. The dates will be informed by NCPOR later.

g) On final selection the candidates will be required to sign a contract with NCPOR.

h) Selected candidates will participate in the Antarctic expedition as team members and will have to perform all the routine duties and jobs related to expedition as assigned by the Leader of Expedition from time to time.
