Job Description
Key Responsibilities
1. Contacting Customers

Call, email, or message customers with overdue invoices or payments as per the assigned portfolio.

Politely remind customers of their pending dues, due dates, and consequences of non-payment.

Maintain regular follow-ups to ensure timely payment collection and resolve any payment-related queries.
2. Debt Recovery and Negotiation
-
Understand the reason behind non-payment and offer appropriate payment options or extensions where applicable.

Handle objections or complaints with a calm and solution-oriented approach.

Negotiate payment plans or settlements within company policies to recover debts while preserving customer goodwill.
3. Monitoring and Tracking Accounts
-
Regularly monitor customer accounts to identify outstanding balances and delinquent accounts.

Prioritize accounts based on aging, value, or risk category.

Ensure accurate record-keeping of all communications and payment commitments in the CRM or collections system.
4. Reporting and Documentation
-
Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports on collection efforts and account status.
-
Escalate high-risk or non-responsive accounts to the senior collections team or legal department as per SOP.

Maintain documentation for audit, compliance, and internal review purposes.
5. Customer Service and Relationship Management

Maintain a customer-centric approach, even during difficult conversations.

Clarify invoice details, due dates, and any payment discrepancies.

Work closely with internal teams (billing, finance, sales) to resolve disputes or billing errors.
6. Compliance and Ethics
-
Adhere to regulatory guidelines (such as RBI, FDCPA, or local credit collection laws) when communicating with customers.

Follow internal collection scripts, quality standards, and data privacy rules.

Ensure ethical, respectful, and non-coercive interaction at all times.
