Job Summary:
The Data Management Specialist - Finance Operations is responsible for maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of financial data across multiple platforms and processes. With a keen eye for detail and strong analytical skills, this professional ensures that transactional records, reconciliations, and cash flows are accurate, timely, and in compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
This role combines financial acumen with data management expertise to support decision-making, compliance, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate brings experience in tools like MS Excel, Tally, and SQL, with a clear understanding of financial workflows and controls.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Data Management:

Collect, organize, and maintain structured and unstructured financial data from internal systems and external sources.

Ensure accurate entry and regular updates of financial transactions into databases, spreadsheets, and financial software (e.g., Tally, ERP systems).

Create and manage databases for reporting, forecasting, and auditing purposes.

Standardize data formats to ensure consistency across multiple reporting platforms.
2. Transaction Analysis and Verification:

Analyze financial transactions to identify patterns, anomalies, or discrepancies.

Verify daily/monthly cash transactions, bank statements, vendor payments, and customer receipts.

Coordinate with accounts payable/receivable teams to resolve mismatches or delays.

Perform data validation to ensure compliance with internal controls and policies.
3. Cash Flow Monitoring and Reporting:

Track daily cash flow activities and update internal records for cash inflows and outflows.

Prepare weekly and monthly cash flow statements for management review.

Reconcile bank balances with internal cash books and report variances.

Support treasury operations with data inputs and monitoring of fund positions.
4. Reconciliation and Audit Support:

Conduct reconciliations of general ledger accounts, bank accounts, and sub-ledgers.

Maintain audit trails and documentation for all transactions and financial data changes.

Assist internal and external auditors with data requests and documentation during audits.

Identify and suggest improvements in reconciliation and data tracking processes.
5. Reporting and Insights:

Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports for finance, operations, and compliance teams.

Use Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros) and SQL queries to extract and manipulate data.

Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning exercises with clean and well-organized data.

Contribute to dashboards and MIS reports that provide insights into financial performance.
6. Process Improvement and Automation:

Identify inefficiencies in data entry, reporting, or reconciliation processes and propose automation using Excel or scripts.

Assist in implementation of new software, ERP, or BI tools related to finance and data management.

Document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for recurring data-related tasks.

Provide support during data migrations, system upgrades, or integration with new financial tools.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Educational Background:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related field

A diploma or certification in data management, accounting software, or business analytics is a plus

M.Com / MBA (Finance) preferred for senior positions
Experience:

5+ years of experience in financial operations, data management, and transaction analysis

Hands-on experience with Tally ERP, MS Excel, and relational databases (SQL)
Technical Proficiencies:

Excel: Advanced proficiency in formulas, pivot tables, charts, data validation, conditional formatting, and macros
-
Tally ERP: Strong understanding of vouchers, ledgers, GST, inventory, and bank reconciliation modules

SQL: Ability to write queries for data extraction, joins, filters, and grouping

Familiarity with tools like Power BI, Zoho Books, SAP, QuickBooks, or Oracle Financials is a plus
