• Deep Value is looking for a Applied Statistician/ Data Analyst/ Quantitative.
  
• Analyst to be part of our statistical research team that works on high frequency data and helps develop trading algorithms. 
  
• We trade billions of dollars in the U.S. equity markets through our algorithms.
  
• A trading algorithm is a sophisticated synthesis of complex statistics and good software to ensure optimal execution at the various US market centers (NYSE, Nasdaq etc.) 
• The Research team studies the performance of the algorithms  and the market micro structure
  
• to develop new algorithms and enhance current algorithms. 
  
• The Research team makes use of the latest Map-Reduce frameworks to test algorithm behavior against historical level 2 and trade data to ensure performance is as expected and to try out new ideas.
  
• They routinely run 200 high performance machine clusters on gigabytes of data to analyse how specific changes will impact performance.
  
• Our simulation framework lets us test algorithmic changes against actual order flow to ascertain the impact of any change.
  
• If you are interested in analysing ultra high frequency trading Big Data to capture patterns; tuning statistically camouflaged trading algorithms that trade billions of dollars, then this may well be the role for you.
  

Essential Functions

• Understand, after some effort per paper, good portions literature in micro structure finance.
  
• Handle a steady stream of well-specified projects interrogating Big Data involving time series analysis, stat inference with linear models, possibly basic econometric concepts as well.
  
• Writing simulations of  trading strategies to run  on large clusters to understand and enhance their high speed actions in a fine grained way.
  

Desired Qualifications

• Masters degree in finance/applied statistics from a top university
  
• Hands on experience with data.
  
• Candidates should typically have been in the top 10% of their peer
  
• group at their current and prior employers.
  
• Prior experience with large numerical datasets
  
• Eye for detail at every level
  
• Must be hands-on, and be ok with small team sizes (6-10 people) and working in a non-hierarchical fashion and in an individual contributor role.
  
• Good English speaking skills, and be able to communicate and understand complex ideas easily.
