Job Description
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establishing the needs of users and monitoring user access and network security
- Monitoring performance and managing parameters to provide fast responses to front-end users
- Considering both back-end organization of data and front-end accessibility for end-users
- Installing and testing new versions of the DBMS
- Maintaining data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act
- Writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata)
- Controlling access permissions and privileges
- Developing, managing and testing back-up and recovery plans
- Ensuring that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly
- Working closely with IT project managers, database programmers and multimedia programmers
- Communicating regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security
- Commissioning and installing new applications and customizing existing applications in order to make them fit for purpose.
- Identifies database requirements by interviewing customers analyzing department applications, programming, and operations evaluating existing systems and designing proposed systems
- Recommends solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, data back-up, and recovery specifications
- Installs revised or new systems by proposing specifications and flowcharts recommending optimum access techniques coordinating installation requirements
- B. Tech or B.E. Graduate in Computer Science or Information Technology with 2-3 years of experience in database management and network security
- Good academic background with proficiency in networking
- Strong understanding of Oracle 12c, MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server 2008
- Understanding of ITES and its profit drivers
- Good Articulation Ability, Decision-making and Leadership Skills.
