Job Summary:
The Delivery Boy is responsible for delivering food orders and grocery items to customers in a timely, accurate, and safe manner. As a key point of contact between the company and its customers, the delivery boy plays a crucial role in ensuring customer satisfaction and supporting daily delivery operations. This role involves traveling within assigned areas, handling products with care, and providing excellent service during each delivery.
The ideal candidate should be punctual, reliable, customer-friendly, and familiar with local routes and traffic regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Pickup and Delivery

Collect food packages or grocery items from restaurants, stores, or warehouses as per assigned orders.

Deliver orders to customers at their doorstep within the expected timeframe.

Ensure that all items delivered are complete, undamaged, and meet order specifications.

Obtain customer signatures or confirmation upon delivery through apps or manual receipts.
2. Route and Time Management

Plan and follow the most efficient routes to minimize delivery time and fuel usage.

Use GPS navigation or delivery apps to track and manage delivery schedules.

Avoid delays by managing time well and communicating with dispatch teams about any potential issues or roadblocks.

Report delays, traffic problems, or emergencies to the supervisor promptly.
3. Customer Service

Greet customers politely and deliver items with a friendly and professional attitude.

Address customer inquiries regarding delivery timing, item condition, or order details.

Report any customer complaints or issues to the appropriate department or manager.

Handle products carefully to ensure a positive customer experience with every delivery.
4. Safety and Compliance

Adhere to all local traffic laws and regulations while driving or riding.

Ensure safe handling of perishable food items and groceries during transport.

Maintain personal hygiene and cleanliness when handling food deliveries, especially when delivering hot meals or fresh items.

Wear company uniform and carry ID or delivery credentials as required.
5. Cash and Payment Handling

Collect cash payments when required and provide accurate change if applicable.

Handle digital payment confirmations using mobile delivery apps or POS devices.

Maintain accurate records of payments received and reconcile at the end of the shift.
6. Equipment and Vehicle Maintenance

Inspect and maintain delivery vehicle (bike, scooter, or bicycle) regularly to ensure roadworthiness.

Refuel or charge the vehicle as needed and keep it clean and presentable.

Report any vehicle issues to the fleet manager or maintenance team promptly.
7. App and Order Management

Use company-provided mobile apps to receive and manage delivery assignments.

Update order statuses such as “Picked up,” “On the way,” and “Delivered” in real-time.

Communicate with dispatch or support team through app or phone for delivery instructions or updates.
