Job Description
A Deployment Engineer, particularly in the context of Intercity or Network Deployment, is responsible for the rollout and implementation of network infrastructure, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of projects. This role involves managing teams, handling logistics, and ensuring compliance with standards. The job typically requires a mix of technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to work with various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Deployment:
- Overseeing the rollout of network infrastructure, including OSP (Outside Plant) for POP (Point of Presence) and transport routes, and potentially FTTH (Fiber to the Home).
- Project Management:
- Developing project plans, tracking progress, and ensuring timely completion of projects to meet monthly and quarterly targets.
- Team Management:
- Leading and coordinating teams of engineers and partners, both internal and external, to ensure smooth execution of deployment activities.
- Inventory Management:
- Tracking and controlling CWIP (Capital Work In Progress), CIP (Capitalization In Progress), and SRM (Site Return Material) to optimize resource utilization.
- Compliance:
- Ensuring regulatory compliance, including EMF (Electro Magnetic Force) compliance for new sites and obtaining necessary ROW (Right of Way) approvals.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborating with business, marketing, and planning teams to prioritize deployments and align teams for efficient delivery.
- Technical Expertise:
- Possessing a strong understanding of network technologies, including transport, FTTH, and potentially SDWAN, MPLS, and routing protocols.
- Troubleshooting:
- Identifying and addressing bottlenecks in the deployment process, developing alternative plans, and ensuring minimal impact on project timelines.
- Partner Management:
- Effectively managing relationships with franchisees and other partners involved in the deployment process.
- Process Knowledge:
- Understanding and implementing processes for execution, audit, and closure of activities related to network deployment.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of network technologies, preferably with experience in fiber deployment, transport networks, and FTTH.
- Project Management Skills:
- Ability to plan, execute, and manage projects, track progress, and meet deadlines.
- Team Leadership:
- Experience in leading and coordinating teams, delegating tasks, and motivating team members.
- Communication Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with various stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving:
- Ability to identify and resolve issues, develop alternative solutions, and ensure timely completion of projects.
- Analytical Skills:
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
- Compliance Knowledge:
- Understanding of regulatory requirements and the ability to ensure compliance.
- Experience:
- Typically requires 4-7 years of experience in network planning and fiber deployment, possibly with a mix of experience in vendor and operator environments.
