Job Description
Role Objective / Major Purpose of the Job
Responsible for setting up and running automatic cartoning machines.
Ensure that packed blisters or strips, along with patient leaflets, are smoothly inserted into outer cartons,
glued or tucked, and printed with precise batch details under strict cGMP guidelines.
Principal Tasks & Responsibilities
1. Machine Operations: Set up and run automatic high-speed cartoning machines (such as Elmach, Rapid
Pack, ACG, or IMA lines).
2. Changeover & Tooling: Change, adjust, and align format parts like carton feeders, leaflet folders (GUK
units), pushers, and bucket conveyors for different box sizes.
3. Process Checks: Monitor and adjust machine parameters including carton picking speed, conveyor timing,
leaf-folding alignment, and hot-melt glue temperatures. [
4. In-Process Quality Tests: Conduct regular online checks to ensure correct carton tucking/gluing, leaflet
presence, clear batch coding, and correct barcode scanning.
5. Daily Production Planning: Execute daily shift schedules provided by the supervisor to achieve immediate
cartoning and packing volume targets.
6. Line Clearance: Perform and document complete room and machine line clearance steps prior to starting
any new batch to prevent mix-ups. [1]
7. Yield Monitoring: Track the total consumption of empty cartons, leaflets, and packed blisters to calculate
final yield and minimize paper/foil scrap.
8. BMR/BPR Log Entries: Fill out and sign the Batch Packaging Record (BPR) and machine logbooks
accurately in real-time.
9. Washing & Cleaning: Clear out residual boxes, rejected leaflets, paper dust, and glue buildup from
sensors, tracks, and suction cups after batch completion.
10. Safe Working: Wear mandatory PPE (including hairnets and safety shoes) and safely operate around fast-
moving mechanical pushers and hot-melt glue systems.

Functional / Technical:
Operation of automatic cartoning machinery, handling GUK folding units, troubleshooting carton jams, and operating
online barcode readers or camera inspection systems

1. High visual alertness to stop the machine during jams, sharp attention to details (like print clarity and box
folding), and strict adherence to documentation.
2. Discipline & Punctuality: Arrives on time for shift handovers and maintains clean room discipline throughout
the day.
3. Teamwork: Works smoothly with fellow operators, helpers, and maintenance technicians to finish batches
faster.
4. Clear Communication: Speaks up instantly to report machine sounds or process mistakes to the supervisor.
5. Safety Awareness: Stays highly alert to electrical lines, and moving machine parts on the floor.
