Desktop Support Engineer – Roles & Responsibilities
Provide Level 1 and Level 2 technical support to end users for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows operating systems (Windows 10/11) and Microsoft Office applications.
Diagnose and resolve desktop, laptop, printer, scanner, and peripheral device issues.
Configure and support email clients such as Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft 365.
Create, manage, and troubleshoot user accounts in Active Directory.
Install, configure, and maintain desktop applications and business software.
Perform software installations, upgrades, patches, and security updates.
Troubleshoot LAN/WAN connectivity, Wi-Fi, VPN, DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP networking issues.
Support remote users using remote desktop tools such as TeamViewer, AnyDesk, Remote Desktop, or Microsoft Quick Assist.
Configure and troubleshoot network printers and shared resources.
Perform hardware replacement and maintenance for desktops, laptops, RAM, HDD/SSD, keyboards, and monitors.
Image and deploy new systems using standard operating procedures.
Monitor and manage IT assets, including inventory and hardware lifecycle.
Log, track, and resolve incidents using ITSM tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, or BMC Remedy.
Escalate unresolved issues to higher-level support teams when necessary.
Ensure compliance with IT security policies, antivirus updates, and endpoint protection.
Perform data backup, recovery, and system restoration activities.
Provide technical assistance during onboarding and offboarding of employees.
Maintain documentation of support activities, troubleshooting steps, and knowledge base articles.
Deliver excellent customer service while meeting Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Coordinate with network, server, and application teams to resolve complex technical issues.
