Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
End-User Support:
- Respond to and resolve desktop support requests in a timely manner.
- Provide technical assistance to end-users via phone, email, or in-person.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related issues on desktops and laptops.
Hardware and Software Installation:
- Install, configure, and upgrade desktop hardware and peripherals.
- Install and update software applications, ensuring compatibility and compliance with organizational standards.
System Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as system updates, patches, and antivirus updates.
- Conduct regular system audits to ensure compliance with security policies and procedures.
Problem Resolution:
- Analyze and resolve technical problems in a systematic and efficient manner.
- Escalate issues to higher-level support when necessary and follow up to ensure resolution.
User Training:
- Provide basic training to end-users on the proper use of hardware and software applications.
- Create and maintain documentation for common issues and resolutions.
Remote Support:
- Utilize remote access tools to assist end-users and resolve issues remotely.
- Ensure secure and effective remote support for geographically dispersed users.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other IT teams and departments to address cross-functional issues.
- Work closely with system administrators and network engineers to maintain a cohesive IT environment.
Hardware Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate records of hardware inventory, including tracking and managing equipment.
- Coordinate equipment replacements and upgrades as needed.
Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service, addressing end-users' concerns with professionalism and empathy.
- Communicate technical information to non-technical users in a clear and understandable manner.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proven experience in desktop support or a related IT support role.
- Strong knowledge of desktop operating systems (Windows, macOS) and productivity software.
- Familiarity with hardware components, troubleshooting techniques, and remote support tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician) are a plus.
