Job Description
Position responsibilities:
The DevSecOps Engineer designs, integrates, deploys and maintains the tools and pratices that ensure our systems are hardened and kitted with the right tools and enablers, remaining compliant with our security guidelines.
As a Dev(Sec)Ops Engineer, you:
- work within a multi-disciplinary team with the mission to deliver a great runtime platform with the relevant toolkit that serves our product/engineering needs;
- are able to identify security, performance or availability constraints and outline opportunities for improvement and evolution;
- are versed with systems and images hardening that meet our demading security standards, in line with compliance certifications;
- have hand-on experience with code security and quality analysis tools, integrated with our CI/CD pipelines;
- help maintaining high levels of security on all systems and ensure their audit trails;
- know your way around access, authentication and authorization systems for applications;
- perform daily operation and support to our platform services and components;
- troubleshoot issues, relentlessly pursue solutions and improvements;
- create and maintain detailed up to date documentation for users and peers;
- work very closely with software and reliability engineers in every part of our platform and toolset life-cycle, helping to build a secured state-of-the-art platform;
- have opportunities to develop your skills in all levels, by being a part of our solutions design and taking ownership of technical deliverables.
Position Competencies:
- Experience with Linux administration (e.g. Amazon/CentOS/Red Hat);
- Experience with OS and imagers hardening and security management;
- Experience in administration of compute instances (e.g. AWS EC2) and virtualized hosts based on VMware ESXi;
- Administration of storage and database systems (e.g. Netapp, postgres, AWS RDS);
- Great knowledge of Infrasctructure as Code (IaC) and relevant tools such as Terraform and Ansible;
- Excellent working knowledge of CI/CD tools, repositories and pipelines (e.g. Gitlab, Nexus, Sonarqube);
- Hardening of Docker images and app/services containarization;
- Managing logging systems (e.g. Graylog);
- Metrics, monitoring and alerting technology (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, OpenNMS, Nagios);
- Management of proxies, web servers and load balancers (e.g. Squid, NGINX and HAProxy, AWS ELBs);
- Working knowledge of programming/scripting (e.g. bash, python, go);
- Experience designing and managing systems based on cloud services (mostly AWS);
- Understanding of networking;
- Can ease the security 'burden' by tackling the needs with the right tooling, automation and guidelines;
- Drives adoption of best practice in a way that does not come across as overhead;
- Enthusiastic advocate of software/system security, who understands different points of view in security matters and constantly promotes the healthy engagement of engineering peers.
- Experience with 'GitOps' is a great plus;
- Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language;
- Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
- Ability to work on many tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment.
