Job Description
Technician - Electrical and Tower Maintenance
Qualification: Diploma / ITI / BE

Key Responsibilities:
1. Electrical Maintenance:
-
Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems including wiring, distribution boards, circuit breakers, relays, and transformers.
-
Inspect and maintain DG (Diesel Generator) sets, UPS systems, inverters, and battery banks.
-
Ensure proper functioning of electrical connections to telecom shelters, equipment rooms, and base transceiver stations (BTS).
-
Perform load testing and measure voltage/current to verify system efficiency.
-
Conduct preventive maintenance of power systems and replace faulty components.
2. Tower Structure Maintenance:
-
Inspect telecom towers for corrosion, loose bolts, structural alignment, and physical damage.
-
Perform minor repairs on tower components such as lighting systems, brackets, and cable trays.
-
Replace or tighten guy wires, grounding wires, and safety fixtures.
-
Maintain proper alignment of antennas and cables during and after adverse weather conditions.
3. Preventive and Corrective Maintenance:
-
Execute scheduled preventive maintenance routines as per company and OEM guidelines.

Identify electrical or structural faults and initiate corrective actions.
-
Keep a maintenance log for each site visit, indicating the work done, faults identified, and components replaced.

Coordinate with vendors and OEMs when higher-level technical support or spare parts are needed.
4. Health, Safety, and Compliance:
-
Adhere to strict safety procedures when working with high voltage equipment or at tower heights.
-
Use PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety harnesses, gloves, helmets, and arc flash protection.

Comply with local electrical codes, telecom standards, and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, IS standards).
-
Conduct periodic site safety audits and flag hazards immediately to supervisors.
5. Documentation and Reporting:

Fill in service reports, fault logs, and maintenance checklists for each task/site.

Submit reports to the central technical team or project coordinator in a timely manner.

Maintain an updated inventory of spare parts, tools, and electrical materials required for routine work.

Update system readings and meter logs as part of the site’s performance history.
6. Travel and Field Work:
-
Travel to multiple tower locations or telecom sites across assigned regions.
-
Be available for emergency maintenance calls, often outside standard working hours.
-
Work under variable environmental conditions such as heat, rain, and dust.
