Key Responsibilities:
1. Design & Development:
-
Design and develop electrical systems, components, and wiring diagrams for new installations, upgrades, or modifications.
-
Prepare layout drawings, schematics, single line diagrams (SLDs), and technical specifications for equipment and electrical installations.
-
Select appropriate materials, equipment, and systems based on project requirements and industry standards.
2. Project Execution & Support:
-
Supervise and coordinate the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, motors, cables, and control panels.
-
Ensure that all electrical systems are installed according to project drawings, safety regulations, and applicable codes (e.g., IEC, NEC, IS).
-
Conduct site visits, inspections, and audits to monitor project progress and ensure quality.
3. Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
-
Assist in planning and overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical systems.
-
Troubleshoot faults in electrical systems and identify root causes of failures to minimize downtime.
-
Recommend solutions and implement improvements for long-term system reliability and performance.
4. Safety & Compliance:
-
Ensure all electrical designs and installations comply with local, national, and international safety standards and regulations.
-
Implement energy-efficient solutions and ensure sustainability compliance.
-
Prepare and maintain documentation, including risk assessments, inspection reports, and compliance certifications.
5. Coordination & Documentation:
-
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, civil, instrumentation) during multi-disciplinary projects.
-
Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and vendors for material procurement, technical approvals, and equipment specifications.
-
Maintain updated records of electrical layouts, circuit diagrams, load calculations, and maintenance schedules.
6. Testing & Commissioning:
-
Perform or supervise testing procedures for electrical systems and components, including insulation resistance, continuity, earthing, high-voltage tests, and relay logic checks.
-
Support factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT).
-
Verify system functionality and performance before handover to operations.
