Position Overview
An Electrical Estimation Engineer plays a key role in the planning, costing, and estimation of electrical projects by analyzing project requirements, preparing Bill of Materials (BOMs), reviewing Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), and assisting clients with their technical and commercial needs. The position requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, tender documents, and project specifications to ensure accurate and competitive cost estimations.
This role is ideal for candidates with excellent analytical skills, a solid background in electrical engineering, and knowledge of tendering processes. The Electrical Estimation Engineer bridges the gap between design, procurement, and project execution teams, ensuring smooth coordination and successful bidding.
Key Responsibilities
1. Preparation of Bill of Materials (BOM)

Analyze project drawings, SLDs, and specifications to prepare accurate Bill of Materials.

Ensure all required components, equipment, and materials are included in the BOM.

Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to validate material specifications and costs.

Regularly update BOMs based on design changes or revised client requirements.
2. Tender and BOQ Analysis

Review tender documents, Bill of Quantities (BOQs), and client specifications.

Interpret technical drawings and ensure quantities are calculated accurately.

Prepare cost estimations in line with the tender requirements and project budgets.

Identify scope gaps, risks, and ambiguities in tender documents and raise clarifications with the client.
3. Single Line Diagram (SLD) Interpretation

Study Single Line Diagrams to understand system configurations and component requirements.

Validate design specifications against client needs and technical standards.

Suggest optimized solutions to improve cost efficiency and reliability.
4. Cost Estimation and Quotation Preparation

Develop detailed cost estimates based on material costs, labor, and overheads.

Prepare professional quotations and proposals for clients based on the tender BOQ and project requirements.

Ensure competitive pricing by analyzing market rates and supplier quotations.

Coordinate with the procurement team for price negotiations and material sourcing.
5. Client Coordination and Support

Work closely with clients to understand their requirements and provide technical assistance.

Address queries related to material specifications, cost breakdowns, and project scope.

Provide value-engineered solutions to meet client budgets without compromising quality.

Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients for repeat business opportunities.
6. Supplier and Vendor Management

Liaise with vendors to obtain competitive quotes for materials and equipment.

Evaluate vendor technical specifications and ensure compliance with project requirements.

Maintain an updated database of suppliers, material prices, and lead times.
7. Reporting and Documentation

Prepare estimation reports, cost summaries, and tender submissions.

Maintain detailed records of project estimations, BOQs, and client communications.

Support the project team during post-award phases by providing estimated data and cost breakdowns.
Required Skills and Competencies
Technical Skills
