Job Description
Position Overview:
As an Electrician, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems, wiring, and equipment. This position requires you to work independently and as part of a team, depending on the scope of the project. You will also be responsible for ensuring that work complies with local electrical codes, building regulations, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Installation and Maintenance of Electrical Systems

Install and maintain electrical systems, including wiring, outlets, switches, and electrical fixtures.

Install, maintain, and repair electrical panels, circuit breakers, and transformers.

Work on the installation and wiring of lighting systems, power distribution systems, and control systems.

Ensure proper grounding and safety measures are taken during installation and maintenance.
2. Troubleshooting and Repairs

Diagnose electrical problems and failures using tools, test equipment, and schematics.

Repair or replace faulty wiring, equipment, and components.

Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to identify potential electrical issues.

Troubleshoot electrical systems and identify issues in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
3. Safety and Compliance

Ensure that all electrical installations and repairs meet the required safety codes and regulations.

Adhere to safety guidelines, including using personal protective equipment (PPE) and following proper lockout/tagout procedures.

Conduct risk assessments and ensure all safety protocols are followed to prevent electrical hazards.
4. Reading and Interpreting Blueprints and Schematics

Read and interpret electrical blueprints, diagrams, and technical manuals to plan and execute projects.

Ensure that electrical installations are performed in line with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
5. Collaboration and Communication

Work with other contractors, electricians, and engineers to coordinate tasks and ensure that projects are completed on time.

Provide guidance and mentorship to apprentices or junior electricians when necessary.

Communicate with clients to provide updates on project progress and address any concerns or questions.
6. Emergency Response and On-Call Duties

Respond to emergency service calls for electrical repairs, ensuring quick diagnosis and safe resolution of issues.

Provide on-call support for emergency repairs during evenings or weekends when required.
7. Documentation and Reporting

Maintain detailed records of all installations, repairs, and inspections performed.

Document and report on the work completed, including time logs and material usage.

Ensure all work is completed according to contract specifications and company policies.
